Yeah Zuma broke the state's ability and capability to fight corruption. The new admin have papered over the rubble, because it seems to suit them to have a broken system.

Nope. Rot was there right from the start. Arms deal and all that happened under Mandela.

It really got into the system when Selebi was appointed the police commissioner and was politically protected by Mbeki.

Even the old Pig Himself behaved in exactly the same way that Zuma and Ramaphosa do.

Far from condemning the debacle, officials of the African National Congress have fiercely defended the Health Commissioner, Dr. Nkosazana Zuma. President Nelson Mandela recently lashed out at the news media for ''creating such an uproar'' and said Dr. Zuma should be left alone to do her job.
In Africa, few would question that President Mandela's young Government still holds the moral high ground. On a continent where turmoil and decline are often the norm, the African National Congress has formed a Government committed to racial reconciliation, human rights, democracy and openness.
But since taking office, the party has come under fire for its handling of the ''Sarafina'' fiasco and half a dozen other high-profile cases. For instance, after nearly two years, charges that party stalwarts like the Rev. Allan Boesak and Winnie Mandela misused private funds have yet to be resolved.
More recently, one party leader who embarked on an effort to root out corruption found himself on the verge of losing his job for ''failing to consult'' with the party. And Gen. Bantu Holomisa, a deputy Cabinet minister, was dismissed shortly after he accused another party official of taking a bribe years ago.

Pointing to ''Sarafina'' and half a dozen other incidents, critics say the party often prizes loyalty over honesty and closes ranks around the accused while slurring the accusers. For instance, they say, party officials have asserted that the widespread criticism over the play has been the work of drug companies who want Dr. Zuma ousted because of her efforts to make prescription drugs cheaper.
''The A.N.C. has established a very clear pattern and the pattern is simple,'' said Steve Friedman, the director of the Center for Policy Studies, a research organization. ''You can be whatever you like as long as you are loyal. The minister of health may be responsible for 'Sarafina' but she is loyal, so she will be defended. The problem is you can't deal with corruption this way.''
The party's values are rooted in its history as a liberation movement. During its decades of fighting the white minority Government, the African National Congress was often infiltrated by South Africa's ruthless military and police intelligence units. As a life-or-death matter, loyalty was highly prized.
Many critics are asking how long the transition to a political party -- which needs to keep its nose clean -- will take.
''It is unreasonable for people not involved in the struggle to say, 'O.K. now -- overnight -- be a political party,' '' said Richard Calland, who has been monitoring the new Government for the Institute for Democracy in South Africa. ''But does that allowance last forever?''

Some say the party has already had enough time.
''We did not want to replace a white corrupt Government with our corrupt selves,'' said Themba Sono, a professor of economics at the University of the Witswatersrand. ''There are people trying to pretend that what is going on is nothing but the birth pangs of democracy. But that is very dangerous.''
Some critics point out that even the information about corruption under the African National Congress represents progress. The former National Party Government was widely considered to have been riddled with corruption, but few of these problems resulted in investigations.
Even so, some top African National Congress officials acknowledge that the party has not distinguished itself in dealing with accusations of corruption and misconduct.
''The A.N.C. is pained immensely by stories of corruption,'' said Cyril Ramaphosa, the party's secretary general, who led the efforts to write a new constitution. ''We are highly conscious of the damage that corruption does to a party and a country.''

He's far more disastrous than Zuma. And if anything he doubled down on RET. The only reason Zuma hates him is because he cut short his access, not because of any principles.

The state has virtually collapsed under him. Cupcake is good at optics and pretending to be good. He always seems to have people making excuses for his failures and blaming Zuma, when he directly has the power to change everything but is powerless against his party...

"You lot" are always so quick to climb your own bandwagon. You failed to engage your noggin. It should require very little effort to disprove him. But you lot can't even do that. He claimed 99%, and you went "No YoU" :ROFL:

You see, you lot are 100% like the Trump-die-hards, simply trying to sane-wash everything with inane and nonsensical responses. Champy basically turned into a 6-year old in the past couple of weeks. The only options left, are to reject your attempts at this sane-washing, rug-pulling and gaslighting , because it's simply disconnected from reality.

Your lot, you lemmings and your hivemind are even more pathetic. You lot should up your game. Quite the ask, what with the ANC literally coming apart at the seams, BEE getting exposed for the scam it is, the electorate rejecting the ANC in droves, the justice sector imploding... holy crud, is there anything left of the GrEaT LiBeRaTiOn MoVeMeNt at all? :ROFL:

All the attacks on the constitution have been under the Ramamessiah.

Ramaphosa’s new police inquiry — while sitting on two previous reports​


For 14 months, since May 2024, Ramaphosa has sat on a report which advised him on exactly what needed to happen to stabilise the police service and clean up Crime Intelligence. The report by Prof Firoz Cachalia (now acting police minister) and his fellow councillors of the National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council (Nacac) has gathered dust on his desk at the Union Buildings.


The President has neither engaged with nor released the Nacac report from a commission he set up to make recommendations after the State Capture commission made its findings.


For three years, Ramaphosa has sat on another report which advised him on exactly what needed to happen to stabilise the police service and clean up Crime Intelligence. This report by Prof Sandy Africa was commissioned after what Ramaphosa called an “attempted insurrection” in July 2021 (the July riots), which saw confidence in South Africa rattled as looting and lawlessness went on for days and days.





Prof Africa made recommendations about stabilising the police service, depoliticising it and cleaning up Crime Intelligence, as well as national intelligence. There is little evidence that any of her recommendations have been implemented.


The President’s inaction on both reports raises questions about how effective he will allow the third commission into the same topic to be. If South Africa had a functioning intelligence service, General Mkwanazi would not have had to detonate a live grenade in the public square to highlight the rot in Mzansi policing, as he did last week.

Which commission set up to investigate ANC corruption and malfeasance has been acted on swiftly because that was the first claim made that needs backing up.
