Apparently she was immediately treated as a suspect and the guy demanded her bank statements.

He'll probably come up with his own version but I do hope the woman laid a formal complaint and this is investigated properly, whatever she does she must not accept an apology to make it go away, the lowlife will apologise now and deal properly with her, so get through the process and if an apology is rendered let it be in a formal platform on record.

Unfortunately I am not 100% sure PIE and such apply on Tribal land.

I think it does, if whoever owns the land is able to find alternative accommodation for them, no squatter has absolute rights, and I say this not knowing if they are squatters or tribal land dwellers, that's why I wanted some background.

I also doubt it's the first time in history where people would be moved, as long as the moving happens within the law.

Still, burning people's houses can't be legal. These tribal thugs do get away with such behavior though. They do get paid when a mall is built but get almost nothing from squatters. Doubt they'd be squatters, land like that, you pay for a right to a piece of the land.

They had a piece on a local radio station about this the other day. A trade union has taken up her case. The owner apparently said she should either work on the forecourt or resign as he can't trust her anymore. He also mentioned there was a lot more to the story. I'm pretty sure he would not have fired her without getting legal advice. But I don't know more than that.

Good that it is taken further, hopefully we will get more facts and less social media spin as the issue goes through formal channels.

Some employers do tend to have an elevated sense of entitlement on the personal lives of their employees.

Oh I'm not saying its legal, but I doubt the current tenants of the property (they can't be owners since the land "belongs" to the Tribal authority) have any legal recourse for being booted off the property.

Its an absolutely disgusting setup that our government is too chicken shyte to actually fix.

Rent some Zama zama, and tell them to go there dig a few holes and fill it. Squatters willing leave quietly without making a scene.
