SA Politics Thread Part 11: The GNU Normal

Which one would you like to die on the hill for:
Remember our deal, we don't discuss politics.

Here's the problem, I discuss politics, over 90% of my time here is spent discussing politics, if you come here and engage me on politics I take time and effort to respond to you, then you come back and tell me you don't discuss politics, which means engaging with you is a waste of time and that annoys me.

So here is the deal, can you get out of my way as far as this thread, or any other political thread is concerned? As there is nothing else to discuss in politics threads besides politics, otherwise it becomes off topic.

So you stay out of my way, I stay out of yours, when we meet in any other thread that doesn't discuss politics, like motoring, sports etc, we engage as normal, how does that work for you?

Because if you definitely know they are not the same person, you would have to know both personally. You lead to that, not me. Logic 101.
Suppose I told you I know the 2 gentlemen. How would you know with reasonable degree of certainty that indeed I know them? For what it's worth, one of the 2 accounts may be mine, in which case your logic falls apart.

Do you know them?

Do you know them?
Immaterial. You'd never be able to establish if indeed I do. Any answer I provide has the same outcomes: you won't know if I'm telling the truth. It's a bit of a conundrum.

Either way, let's close the matter and mark it unresolved.

I'm not discussing politics. I'm asking you which one of your statements is correct.
I also second the question.

1. the military is supposed to be apolitical
2. Dirco is supposed to be the responsible

Based on that

1. The general was not supposed to be doing what he did. Is he setting up a coup ?
2. She is not able to authorize a trip like that. Not her job. By extension was she planning a coup ?

You give Angie too much credit if you think she could plan her way out of a paper bag.

It won't be unresolved if you answer whether you know both of them or not. Do you know them? Yes or no.

Being new to this forum, I'm rather surprised that some supposedly mature, intelligent and hopefully honest members seem to have an evasive inability and use mental gymnastics to not answer questions that would show them wrong.

If you're wrong, own it and move on. I have several times on this forum, and then thanked the person for enlightening me. Being proven wrong on this anonymous forum seems to evoke feelings of mental anguish among some.

Good to see you sticking to our deal, but feel free to let me know at any point when you feel you want to discuss politics with me, we can always work something out.

It's not our deal. It's my life philosophy. I do not discuss politics or religion. But I will question when I perceive inaccuracy or hypocrisy. I will also provide historical context and relevant information that has been omitted.

The SANDF is not allowed to dabble in politics. Even discussions of politics by SANDF members are forbidden. This general has committed a Court Martial offence. But do not be too hopeful. The Chief of the Army, General Mbhata, was not granted amnesty by the TRC for murder. He has yet to be prosecuted 30 years later.

Interesting speculation. There is suspicion of IS sleeper cells in South Africa. Iran is the sponsor of IS and radicalism.
