Owning a property , but having financed it, is very different tp having a rental property.
Yes the bank has 1st dibs on the asset Incase of default. But that is it.
Also it is laughable gov again wants private institutions to cover for gov incompetence.
Gov has the mechanisms available to sue delinquent rates and tax owners

That being said. Property is no longer a investment worth having

Investment in building work has shifted significantly from Gauteng to Cape Town, with JSE-listed construction and engineering group WBHO blaming the political leadership in Gauteng for this trend.

CEO Wolfgang Neff said WBHO’s building division is under pressure, because very little work is available in Gauteng.

“Not long ago, our Gauteng division was four times the size of our Cape Town division.

“Work in Cape Town will likely soon surpass Johannesburg and Tshwane combined, which is very sad considering that Joburg is meant to be the economic hub of South Africa.

“In my opinion, the political leadership in Cape Town are making a difference and creating an environment that is conducive to investment,” he said this week in a presentation on the group’s financial results for the year to end-June 2025.

Despite that gauteng was 2 or 3 time the size money terms than WC
A real slap in the face for Gauteng

This is what it means to be conductive for business
Gauteng ( JHB ) deeds office is a complete balls up. 3 months to do what took 4 days before. Most muni's in Gauteng are taking 3 or 4 times as longer now to process rates clearances.... List goes on
I was looking into buying up larger residnetial properties , rezoning and building townhouses. But it doesnt make sense to have a property lying dormant for 5+ years while you try get paperwork done

Surnames are not bound to countries. Wont make it any easier to get you legal
Not sure why a court ruling was needed.
You can allready change surnames with a good reason .
