These are grassroots parties with some footprint in communities they operate. They already have something going on therefore, no need for ASA to start from scratch. If they target these grassroots parties with established presence and infrastructure, they might make inroads into ANC strongholds.
As I said thery already won a former ANC ward with the F4SD in NW, so it is a very sound strategy, especially wit the local elections coming.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is considering deploying the army to gang violence hotspots in South Africa, but warns that soldiers are not trained like police officers.
“A call has been made to deploy the army, and the army as it engages in any situation are not police people, they do not investigate,” he said. “When they see someone doing wrong, they see them as an enemy and they shoot to kill.”

I don’t remember them shooting any zama zamas when they were “backing up” saps coz saps have to follow too many human rights laws that all they can do is monitor from a distance these days.

The DA gave Sodi the contract in 2019, should have blacklisted him ages ago, it's a reactive measure they took when they were exposed.
You can only get blacklisted after the contract is awarded due to non-performance, corruption etc. In other words, time had to lapse between the awarded contract and the performance. They were then voted out before the full process was completed (they need to interact with National Treasury to get them blacklisted on the supplier database). Stop excusing incompetence.

The contract was awarded agains the backdrop of the toilet and asbestos scandals.

Has everybody forgotten what happened in Cape Town when the army was deployed in gang areas, when the DA called for them to be deployed?
