LOL, sorry, the dear Unimportant bit was not real, but the rest were....
I'm led to believe that Cape mail hasn't been too badly affected by the strike, not to sure though....

Oh please. My 2 x EMS parcels arrived at JIMC in the middle of September!
One has still not cleared customs, the other cleared, but has not left JIMC. It is now over 2 months. For EMS.
F 'em.
It will be many months before they can clear the backlog. And since November is when you should stop importing goods until after Xmas, as they start the mass stealing now during the Xmas rush...they are going to have a field day.
I have lots of overseas contacts holding stuff for me, pending approval to send. Think I am going to have to pay the fortunes it costs to use couriers like DHL, Fedex etc.

Havent received my Telkom or retail accounts in months... I really need those letters.
Is anybody's EMS parcels arriving safely and swiftly in Cape Town yet? I import to pay my bills and having to use express couriers is really taking it's toll.

I got a letter from the UK the other day. Mail from banks, municipality, shops and DSTV is arriving as per normal.
Important academic resources as well. Now I have to pay expensive courier fees. ..
Hi Guys, one of my parcels has been received by the JHB operations facility, it has been shipped with Aramex via Amazon, how likely am I to receive this parcel with the current strike? Sorry, don't really do a lot of online shopping and don't really know a lot about the process....

I also have a package at this center. It arrived about 2 months ago. It is still there and I am still waiting.
I am not sure if I will receive it, but if I do at some point in time, I believe it will be broken. It seems they are throwing boxes on top of one another and it looks like a dumping yard there. I had a camera lens.
FSCK, this really blows man, was your ordered with Amazon as well....I am sure that I can get a refund and then maybe order with a courier service but it's annoying to have to keep waiting for stuff and then when it gets here, these *****s are on strike....
No, mine was via USPS.
I think your package may be with Aramex's own processing center, which means you will probably get yours tomorrow or in a couple of days and should be delivered by Berco Aramex here locally.
Mine is at the Post Office...
Thanks man, much appreciated, I do have another parcel with USPS but it is at Cape Mail Hub, so will see how long that takes to arrive...just hope this strike ends soon, what happens to all the parcels if SAPO shuts down?
LolGood question! I am sure at some point in time they will deliver it somehow.
What really concerns me, however, is that a number of large companies, like eBay, is not happy with the SA Post Office. I had a discussion with them last week concerning an order I placed that was accidentally shipped with USPS - rather than a private courier that I paid for.
They managed to stop the order and refund me.
However, they told me they were aware of the strike and problems and that refunds to buyers are now common. Their management is considering taking actions and there is a possibility that they may prevent sellers from selling to SA soon. According to them, if they do not prevent selling to SA, there may be no buyer protection if you don't do private couriers.
We will be hit hard if companies abroad decides to impose restrictions like these.
Good morning All,
I can't believe how efficient courier services are, my word, especially with International parcels, my order was shipped on the 06.11.2014 and is expected to be delivered today or tomorrow, that's 6 days TOTAL, it's insane....Yes, I paid close to R600 for shipping alone but it was worth it...Never again will I go with standard shipping or SAPO....Isn't there a SAPO meeting today?
Ja we all agree that the courier is better but the price, especially when you buying something cheap from ebay the courier is most likely going to be more than the product.
