SA Post Office Strike

I love that there has been no updates for progress on the backlog for the week.

Honestly the less and less they update on progress the more likely I am beginning to wonder if there is any chance of them finishing up the backlog before the 15th. The next pertinent question is, are they going to work up until xmas or not? I am sure many of us would like our packages to arrive before then and with what seems a FIFO system in place, that may mean that items ordered now may only exit next year Feb at this rate.

Or my frustration may be for naught and my items that still haven't even been scanned into the country may magically appear...
Index outside the bounds of the array is my most favourite error. Not found would be acceptable, index outside the bounds of the array would mean nothing to 90% of people!

Ranting here but tired of waiting for things that should have been here a month ago (I do realise that people have been waiting longer)

Is it safe again to use EMS from Hong Hong to Cape Town?

It is costing me way too much to use express couriers. Anyone been importing stuff using EMS to Cape Town the last few weeks without issues?

Ems uses the postal services. You will be in the same boat as normal mail

Not really true. SAPO has tried to prioritize EMS. I live in Cape Town and I got my EMS deliveries on a Saturday about 4-5 days late making a total of about 10 days from Osaka to Cape Town. My other stuff posted at the same time by Japan Post (airmail) is still not in the system.

This was in the height of the strike when NO other post was coming through.

As said I got two EMS articles on a Saturday at the height of the strike. The time from Osaka to Cape Town was about 10 days or double that what it usually takes. The items bypassed JIMC. As you live in Cape Town, in your place, I would go with EMS.

I'm currently waiting on an EMS item posted in Europe yesterday. I'll see how long that takes. I'll have another Japanese EMS item late December, we'll see how it goes. But I think I'll be all right.

I would say yes, recieved all my parcels from Oct 14/15 recently and the one I placed on Nov 13 will be here this week. Things are moving fast on the EMS side I feel. (Considering all movement only started on Nov 18 for me)

Thats because you are in Cape Town they were semi functional through most of the strike. JHB and PTA is where things went wrong my EMS package took 2 months.

My parcel has finally been scanned at JIMC! Capture.jpg
Been sitting there since end Sept.

And yes, SAPO can't spell "incoming"

Could have fooled me, I have been waiting for a phone coming in by EMS for almost 4 months.

It was scanned in by JIMC about 3 weeks ago, but nothing further.

There'll come a time when the post office will be a thing of the past.

Dedicated companies to handle your parcels will be the norm.

Oh and the there's email.
