SA Post Office Strike

Lets hope it lasts long enough to process most of the items. I dont see much incoming mail in the future.

My EMS items are moving again. They were scanned in at Capemail so it seems that they were not scanned in at JIMC or maybe they arrived in Capemail and were rerouted before South Africa to go through Cape Town. I have no idea.

My RR item is still not in the system but then it did leave a day or two after my EMS items.

Just an update. My EMS stuff was delivered today (Saturday). The EMS guy said that EMS and some other stuff gets delivered straight to Cape Town to bypass JIMC. He's not sure if other stuff gets prioritized but he's seen other non EMS deliveries arrive from Joburg.

If you live in Cape Town (at least) and use EMS you should probably expect delays of 4-5 days over the usual 3-5 business days that EMS takes, but your items should get delivered.

No sign of my stuff in Joburg, pretty sure that most of it is gone. Will see.

My airmail stuff is also not on the system yet. But if you live in Cape Town there is hope your stuff will get delivered despite the strike going full swing in JIMC.

I am waiting for 4 packages all arriving from overseas, all relying on the postal service because the courier option was expensive. So the stuff was ordered 2 months ago today. It must in the country by now, my question is where does this stuff end up? I have some serious concerns about whether I will actually ever get my stuff.

Update on industrial action at some facilities of SA Post Office
Increasing numbers of postal workers are returning to work and processing of mail items took place over the weekend at Witspos sorting facility in Johannesburg and Tshwane Mail in Pretoria. Roughly 60% of mail processing workers are back at work.

The Tramshed post office in Pretoria is closed for repairs following vandalism by striking workers. All other post offices in the city are open. Fewer post offices in Johannesburg, the West Rand and East Rand are temporarily closed, the majority of them for repairs after they were vandalised. Incidents of intimidation are decreasing. Today, however, mail processing resumed in all areas except Emalahleni.

Mail processing workers in Bloemfontein, Welkom, Polokwane and Emalahleni recently joined the industrial action. Eight post offices were closed in Bloemfontein today in the interest of safety. This is after striking workers threatened employees with violence. They are Bainsvlei, Erlichpark, Kagisanong, Mangaung, Universitas, Kenworth, Arboretum and Willows.

In all other provinces, the postal service is normal with no employees on strike.

SOUTH AFRICA CAPE TOWN EMS Arrival at Sorting Center

At least mine is not in the JHB pile but now it still needs to go there :(

They'll probably just start another strike in a day or two, or maybe not, it gets closer to Christmas, lots of packages with cool stuff to loot for them.
