SA Post Office Strike

Hey guys is it safe to order something from eBay and the UK at the moment?

Well if I just received an item posted FOUR MONTHS AGO, I would wait a while if you could! I also ordered another item a month ago, and no sign of that yet.

I finally got through to JIMC, I send through all my paperwork through on the 17th but had no response or movement since on my tracking number. Someone sommer decided I wanted to pick up my parcel there without letting me know. Anyways, what I did to get through on their numbers was ring 0119616006 and the moment I get the voice talking about high call volumes I would put down and redial. I did that repeatedly and after about 20 mins I got my call answered. :wtf:

Is Fax really the only option to send documents to them?

Surely there is an email address somewhere?

Yay. 3 out of 5 items at my local PO

As said, probably yes. EMS definitely - 99% sure. Airmail probably going to take twice the usual or maybe same time. Get a tracking number and insurance ideally (EMS has that). If item does not arrive you can file a PayPal dispute. This advice is for people who live in Cape Town.

Still waiting for a parcel from a month ago. No sign yet. Isn't supposed to have been affected by the strike. Parcel from the Cape to Gauteng took 8 weekdays. Blame that on the 4 holidays. So local stuff seems to be moving effectively. Not the same for international.

a month? thats nothing, waiting from a delivery from Pretoria since July

Just for everyone's reference, some stuff I ordered from China mid September cleared customs on 21 Dec and arrived at my local post office in Joburg yesterday.

Is the strike still going on? I sent a parcel from Durbs to Grahamstown yesterday via ordinary parcel mail...

Not as far as I know. But I keep on hearing that with the huge backlog and all everything is and will be for some time massively delayed.

Spend the few extra bucks and send it via postnet.

Could have fooled me !

Getting worried about my vehicle registrations coming up soon, these are difficult to renew without the reminder.
Just take last year's registration form to a PO that does licensing.
