SA Post Office Strike

All these items were ordered between Mid-Nov to early December, and they have started to show up on this side. So, the backlog is being cleared.

I'm still waiting for stuff from July. I guess that they are clearing the pile from the top down.

Mine is at the bottom.

I don't think they're that organised to follow an order.

They must be clearing the cr-p out of that pile. But this is typical. You pay real money for an actual product (air mail delivery) you get slower than surface mail. And not even one word of apology from the minister or CEO of the post office. You pay real money for electricity supply, you get zip. Pay real tax, get nothing back.

So where are all the lefties of MyBB? Pro big government people. Do tell us what we can do about this governmental institution?
Where's that constitution?

geez. Gives new meaning to "snail mail"

Sheesh! took long enough,

where was the parcels from?

I ordered some stuff from hobbyking. They apparently shipped from Malaysia. Thankfully nothing was damaged for all that time. I'm missing 1 parcel worth R1500. I guess I can't have it all hey.

A snail would still have been quicker than these incompetent fools. I have started paying for more expensive shipping. I received another package in 6 days from Malaysia. Granted it cost me an extra $99 but at least I didn't have to deal directly with SAPS.

I'll rather wait for my stuff than pay R1000 for shipping.

I only use DHL now when ordering from abroad, if they don't offer it, I don't bother. If it's cheap I'll pay snail mail, but when you have 3k worth of parts, yeah I'll pay the premium to get then in three days. 250$ is my most to date lol, just for shipping, but then I got the package in 2 days from Hong Kong.

Sorry for off-topic but would it be ok to order batteries if they come with a device?

It depends on the batteries, I've ordered about 40 lipo and have had no issue.

Edit : half asleep.

I'm in Durban. Just received an Ebay order shipped on 11/12/2014 with USPS... :)

A device like a laptop is apparently OK. Additional or separate batteries are supposedly not. batteryupgrade.com have always upgraded my airmail to free FedEx Economy.

Problem is that some (Japanese, Kyoto based) retailers (manufacturers) only ship EMS. And they don't do freight forwarding so that option is unavailable.

Ok thanks. Will see what to do.

Has anyone used speed services recently?
Are they also having delays in delivery?

I would like to order an item from Loot.co.za and they offer free express post office counter delivery.
I will pay extra for a courier if speed services is an issue.

Pay the extra, rather than put up with the frustration and worry that it may not get to you, ever

On the topic of batteries: I order some RC stuff from Hobbyking back in June last year which I'm still waiting for. The order contained two LiPo batteries. The order was shipped with Malaysian post. After numerous emails to HK and POS Malaysia I eventually got told that my parcel was inspected and classified as "Dangerous Goods". The parcel is now apparently sitting somewhere waiting for SAPO to give them the go-ahead to ship the parcel via surface mail...
