SA Roads are DANGEROUS!

SA drivers think they only need to put on their light to see where they're going not to be seen. You see morons in dark coloured cars driving in fog and low light conditions all happy cause it's pitch black - they're happy because they can see all the other cars with light on not thinking of themselves.

And what are these horn things on people's front grills? Some sort of fashion?
 
Came through that traffic just after the accident happened. Sat right at the front of the queue waiting for them to finish clearing the injured people, the debris, the tow trucks, the ambulance, the pedestrians and the police vehicles out of the way.
They closed off the entire highway - we waited about 15 minutes before they opened up 2 lanes on the right for traffic to begin moving through.

Some bits of Cape Towns roads are bad. There were flooded sections on the N1 and West Coast Rd today. Whole lanes closed off. Poor drainage.

Not in Cape Town. Here we desperately need people to drive faster. What a joy it would be if people pulled away promptly, accelerated swiftly and actually got all the way up to the speed limit.

It is true that overly cautious drivers do cause accidents, but not nearly as many as reckless drivers. An interesting fact is that overly cautious drivers cause the highways to come to a complete standstill. When someone cuts in front of them they slow down so much to cause a chain reaction which eventually leads to the highway standing still.

Back to the topic of impatient drivers. There's one thing in particular which drives me nuts. You see the traffic light is red so you slow down gradually. There's already a car standing still at the traffic light in the lane next to yours. Some douche notices this and speeds in the open lane past you and cuts in front of you, then hits on the brakes to stop in time.

It's so retarded. Once I had my dogs in the car and had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting the chop, and my poor dogs went flying.

More power to them I say - at least they know to drive slower when it FKN RAINS! and visibility and traction are drastically reduced. The amount of @holes I saw on the road today in the rain driving without lights, speeding to a standstill, cutting in, boggled my mind
 
Saw a guy in an M6 doing that once. Chowing his pap with his hands while driving. Could only think of the stains he's leaving on the steering wheel.

Once passed a guy getting dressed into "traditional clothing" whilst his passenger held the steering wheel going at over 100km/h.

they just smiled NO problem!

another thing I have noticed recently is parents who allow their children to run rampant on the back seat with no seat belt, I kid you not last week alone I counted 9 people with kids not strapped in.

'Tis true. I see that on a daily basis. Always wonder if they'd be so blasé about it when their kid's head hits the windshield.

I was really surprised by a guy in our office, a CA who is very bright, while his wife was pregnant he bought a NP200 , we still joked it wasn't a family car and he'll have to put a couch on the back ala My Name is Earl.
Anyway drove up to him parked at a stop light and his wife had their sub 1yr old unstrapped on her lap.

Isn't it illegal to drive with kids not strapped in?
