SAA website & domain mess

Sometime I wonder if it is truely an oversight or more incompetence in the finance department.
Remember that some Gov departments are used to not paying their bills on time.

The responsible person just did'nt think the payment was that important and put it in the bottom of the stack.

The incompetence that abounds never ceases to astound, and this just before the 2010 cup. What were FlySAA thinking?

I'd love to know what person exactly was responsible.

Exactly. In South Africa that attitude is well-known. It's also a well-known "bug" in the co.za registrar that they'll inform you 5 times and then have another month before putting your domain in pending and another month to delete it. In total, you can shave off 7-8 months by just paying late. So you can get almost a YEAR "free" like that.

Unfortunately the international registrars shuts you down the day your domain expire. What is funny though, is that someone have been receiving these notices for at least 4 months now and have done nothing about it.

Somehow they will never forget to go cap in hand to take taxpayer's money, but the things that actually generate them funds... well that's not so important :p

If I got that message I would have grap the doman-name ;-) .....and with it free flying coupons for 5 years

Well it would have been news if someone bought the domain from under them and then tried to auction it back.....hehe, it would've seriously damaged SAA's ability to promote their WorldCup traveling packages.

Well this mess up cost them tickets ... I might not make such a big dent in their deficit but I ended up buying tickets from Mango yesterday due to their sites technical issues.

After a domain expires it goes into a probationary period where the original person who registered the domain can renew it. I think it only goes back into the pool available after 2 months

Why would anyone fly SAA? Its like paying twice for the airticket because you are already paying for it with your income tax.

All the advertising SAA have done with adverts all over London tube stations advertising FlySAA and their London to Joburg and Cape Town flights... Come to think of it, it's not just underground, quite a few overland train stations as well

The incompetent who cocked this one up, has a bright future at SAA - they could even become CEO if they continue to show true incompetence !

SAA, where incompetence is not only a pre-requisite for continued employement, but is actively rewarded...................
