SABC retrenches over 600 workers

Toilet paper is white.
The sky is blue.
Water is transparent.

Companies differ. My description was a general overview.

Stop arguing for nothing.
Seriously. There's no need.

That's just it its not a general overview. Its and old fashioned way of doing things that doesn't belong in a modern technology company. No wonder its such an archaic institution.

Not all companies function the same.

Car manufacturers don't function like Pharmaceutical manufacturers. Tech companies are not Media Producers or Entertainment companies.

Even Netflix or others aren't a combination of both. There's a boat load of different roles in tech companies as well. Nothing is flat.

Even Microsoft and Google is a perfect example. They have levels and levels of structure and differentiated roles and responsibilities for employees. With all of these people forming part of an entire entity. Nothing is flat or some weird form of 'modern'.

Balmer himself used the word flatten when he spoke about restructuring Microsoft to compete with the newer tech companies many years ago. But I see you have now switched from management to employees.

No. I didn't switch.
Read the post you started arguing with me. I mentioned an array of different roles and positions. I mentioned managers and employees. Irrespective. It doesn't matter. I'm responding in circles.

I don't care what anyone said or says. The reality is companies don't function the same and nothing will ever truly be flat. Not where humans are concerned.

Edit: Management is employed as well. So Managers are employees.

You responded to a post where someone highlighted the high number of managers, here it is:

Have I go this straight? The SABC has 2550 people managing 429 people?

Your focus was on managers and yes you mentioned managers manage seniors and juniors but that was not your focus

You claim to be arguing in circles but you keep changing the argument to try and suit you. Name one place where anyone said "truly flat" for instance. I said flatten which if you to bother to read some of the literature on tech organisations using collaborative organisational culture to flatten their organisations structures you will see is a common term.

Dude. Whatever. You are arguing about nonsensical crap and your comprehension skills need some work. Listen to some classical music to improve your mind and calm you down.

Semantics. Learn about it.

I've got better things to do than respond to your opinions.

Again nothing of value just vague insults... maybe take some of your own "advice".

Your pride blinds you. You can't learn or accept that not everyone shares your opinions or perceptions. Your posts in other threads confirm it. You are like a guy screaming at his children the entire day, but he doesn't realise they or anyone can't conform to his view or his idea of being.

That's no vague insult.

Yeah yeah whatever makes you sleep at night.

I've got medication which helps with that. Thanks for the concern.

It takes a lot to have a conversation with someone. You might want to reconsider how you do it.

Again I suggest you look in the mirror on that one. I'm not the only one just in this thread who you threw a insult at.

Don't take it personal.
I doubt the 600 people I said should work for SARS will either.

I'm up for learning and I'd apologise anytime where I'm wrong and know it.
I don't appreciate senseless arguments though.

Why was it senseless? There are a number of people on here who believe the sabc has far too many managers. You seem to disagree. I believe that as a tech company (yes media counts as tech) they should with restructuring adopt a more modern organisational structure like many of the leading tech companies follow. You still haven't given a version of why you think it should be different. I believe its in the countries best interest to run efficient SOE's and refreshing your organisation is part of that journey.

Why do you keep assuming and adding things and opinions of what you think I said? I didn't say anything like that.

I was responding to another member.
I made a statement of what I know a Company is. It's not that difficult.

I never spoke about the SANC or what I believe they should or should not do.
I give a flying fk about them.

OK, I think I understand now. You made a statement that had no bearing on the topic being discussed ie SABC and I wrongly assumed it was in accordance with the topic. Apologies for making that assumption I'll move along.

Yep. I spoke in general. Which I meant by the word overview. Thereby it being an issue of semantics and bad articulation on my part. I also said whether it's the SABC or not.

Lastly. You have the full right to your opinions, even if you want functioning and well managed SOEs. Just try and see that everyone has the right to their own opinions as well.

I was trying pretty hard to understand your opinion, that's why we continued through all our disagreements. It would have been much easier to bail on the conversation or call you names. Just because I or you or someone else feels strongly about their opinion doesn't mean they don't respect yours. Saying I hear you and leaving it there is the easy way out pressing each other to fully understand each others view is much more difficult but more conducive to a real understanding. I now fully understand what you meant and yes it was not the easiest for either of us but in the end we know with certainty what it was about.

Ha ha ha ha. Resilient and what? Over half are staff preferring VSPs rather than play their silly little games. Sorry for losing your jobs folks but be glad and move on - this horse is blind and deaf and needs to be put out if it's misery.

So.. anybody missed the 600 ? Did tv change?
Now the same needs to be done across the entire public sector and all other SOE's. Patronage networks with jobs for votes are not sustainable and entirely undemocratic.
