SABC tax in future

Still would rather have em privatise the SABC and use tax payer money for education, health.... something usefull then the garbage they show...
 
Frankly that 1% figure is a bunch of ****. There is no way to allocate 1% extra tax on Income tax payers to the SABC. What is more likely is that they wish to increase the taxes collected by 1% which is not the same thing.

So, income tax would increase by 1% of your current rate: i.e. if you pay 30% tax, your increase will be 1% of 30% = 0.29%.
 
wait till national health system comes in......1% tax will sound like a christmas coming too early.......f......g c.....s........

Not all tax payers uses telkom but we were taxed for them to build their network in 1960-1990.. and now want us to pay line rental.

Ironically for something the tax payer owned until the goverment privatized the communications industry.(for themselves)

you mean 70% is on handouts whilst the other 30% support them via taxes ;), so now we are going to pay increased tax for some moar ****ty African Broadcast Channel :rolleyes:. sigh if only they had some real quality shows- i don't have a tv so can i claim back the 1% ?
 
Surely the Finance Minister has a final say on how Tax is calculated, collected and distributed to the relevant government institutions? If this is the case, then clearly the DoC is bypassing the finance ministry authority by even commenting on how much money they want from the Tax collections! What's to stop another departments from proposing their own share from Tax?!
 
Just close down the SABC and throw away the key. There is just no way in hell I'm going to pay for this.

secondly, WTF!? they are now wanting to forcibly take more of my hard earned money!

at first i thought, gee this could be good, but that they've actually put a percent to it, means that someone somewhere is going to be laughing all the way to the bank. if anything, a set standard rand amount is what it should be, not a percentage of your income! are they actually friggen serious!!! :mad:
 
um, where is the option for "Neither"

I think the SABC should become self-funding... or even better, sell it off to a private company.

I was trying to agree with your point. The government and it's departments are really arrogant in the way they apply and manipulate tax money.
 
i heard about this and honestly they must suck my balls on this one.....

i can stomach the eskom rip off, even though that too was due to terrible management.

but this... this is just plain f***ed up, why should we pay for a totally rubbish service ... i mean they play movies like 20 years old on a sunday evening?

i calculated it and i'm going to end up paying a CRAZY amount every month considering the lousy service we get from them.

what i find more incomprehensible is the fact that the SABC should be SELF-SU-F*&*ING-FICCIENT!!! the amount of money they make from advertising is absolutely insane yet we have to bail them out at every corner??!!??!!!!1

seriously f*&( THEM! sell the piece of sh*t to a private co. ... lol what's next, ministers buying 2 x cars worth over R1m each just in case they're in a different province? .... oh wait
 
What the HELL

So not only does 75% of my tax go to the Eastern Cape now they want to tax me more for Television - something I do not watch?

Tax those with TV licenses, some of us have better things to do with our time and money.

I am taxed so much and see nothing from that money - and don't say roads, that's what all the tax on the petrol is for.

Forgive my ignorance in this matter but what is the purpose of a public broadcaster? Why is the government fighting so hard to keep it afloat? Why don't we have an Eskom and Telkom tax so that people never have to pay Telkom but the money is more 'efficiently' collected? I smell bull$#1t...
 
just to add some more thoughts...

with the amount of money a household of say 2 adults will pay monthly towards the SABC, will we be receiving world class entertainment at all????

FFS how do you justify this, they will be making craploads more money than multichoice yet we'll be sitting with 3 ultra rubbish channels? lol wtf?

this is so unbeleivable, i honestly can not get over how insane this is........ so how does e-tv get by with just adverts etc. ?

as i said in my previous post... they really need to suck my balls on this one, this is f(*$ing criminal
