I figure it’d be entertaining since even DStv have struggled. If DSTv can’t get it right the sabc has no hope unless this is some white label deal where someone gets the rights to the entire Sabc catalogue :whistling:

DSTV have already gotten the whole SABC Catalogue ... , they just got to figure out who to "pay" for the rights to use and abuse it to their advantage.

I cannot wait to see what the competing product looks like.
I imagine SABC's product/service conceptualisation team will take their inspiration from raw sewage being streamed very slowly through a narrow sewer pipe with lots of buffering and jitter.

At least everyone now knows why they want to expand the TV licence to include digital distribution. The state is in the view, that when they enter the digital market that they want to be its custodian, and they want to exercise it through the TV license.

It won't be long until they want services like VPN or 'smart' DNS services declared illegal or allowed through special licensing. There are many countries at this time who wants to implement digital borders.

The problem with SA, as also seen with their DST proposition, they choose the countries with the most aggressive policies to copy.

This. Cannot compete on an even playing field so let's well cheat.

Hahahaha that's hilarious! Maybe if they keep comedy like this up they'll have a few viewers.

They can't even write the most basic website to pay a TV license, how are they going to develop a streaming platform.

You people do realise it is not about the streaming service. Once they have it going they can justify all devices, including mobile phones, tablets and notebooks, has to have a TV licence as they are all capable of streaming SABC.

Enjoy!

"Kakflix"or whatever could actually perhaps be a sleeper hit (initially) with expats & the nostalgia crowd :D

Enjoy!

Only if they have the SABC app installed.

I’ve already streamed the two Bafana Bafana matches on SABC Sport, as well as SAFM everyday. If they just stick in their lane and not worry about Netflix, I think they’ll do okay.

Glad someone gets value from their offering.
They have offered nothing of value for myself, or family for decades.
