SABS CEO-less for 8 years

The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), which provides certification, testing, and training services, has not had a permanent chief executive officer (CEO) for eight years.

The entity, which reports to the Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition (DTIC), is responsible for developing, promoting, and maintaining South African National Standards (SANS).

Importers can safely display non-SABS approved electrical items for sale on their shelves quite openly without fear from complaint or seizure from the SABS or the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS)

Despite several consumers having been electrocuted by inadequate insulation on an air-fryer or an immersion heater, the NRCS simply ignores complaints. The email address seems not to be monitored and their Cape Town office at 14 Railway Road, Montague Gardens is manned by a disinterested cadre without any technical knowledge whatever

How can this be?

Im sure thats a nice cushy job for some or other ignorant half wit of a comrade?

Same way as everything else the ANC controls =straight down. Strange so many people keep on voting for failure.

Maybe the avoiding of a permanent CEO is intentional, preventing the abuses from taking root too much.
