Picked up Sacred 2 the other day for R79. Started playing it last night. There's a huge world to explore. I tried out a melee character at first but found it to be unsatisfying. The combat animations aren't to great as in when you hit an enemy you dont realy feel like you're thumping him. (Titan Quest was better in this respect) So I started again with a pure mage high elf. Not too bad so far. Sticking to the chain lightning build. The game seems to be slower paced than Diablo II or Titan Quest. But a lot less talking than Dragon Age or Mass Effect.

Anyone else play this and is there anything to look out for?

had it for a a year or more, started it... stil have not played it. Don't know why...

yeah, have also had it for ages, tried to start a new game in it a few times, but just never liked it. Dunno why, just completely underwhelmed me. I think the game pace is too slow compared to Diablo, made it feel like an MMO in terms of combat.

I think is more of a co-op game than something you play on your ace..I also didn't get far because it just didn't cut it for me, playing this alone. It's quite buggy too. :D

Bought it recently and enjoying it. Using the elemental class.

This game is like Planescape:Torment, great game, but only after you've gotten past it's problems and fixed the game.

First off patch your game, patch it to the latest version. Improves the game hugely.

Don't do boring sidequests, read what the NPCs says, if it requires an escort or sounds boring just leave it alone. If you meet someone from Blind Guardian, do that quest.
Change the camera to free mode (after patching). This is essential because of the environment's layout.
Note that you can cancel a combo spell by moving forward and backwards while casting, so you won't have to sit through the entire combo everytime when you don't have to or want to.

I can't get this to run properly on my win7 machine :(

Ascaron say they do not support 7 at all.

@ OP... nope, nothing to look forward to. I was very excited and looking forward to it but it was a let down. Full of bugs and crashes constantly on Win7.

Also only played about 60% through, then became bored. I love the graphics and the skill mechanics, but things seemed to move along too slowly, with just a little too much long-distance running.

I played it on the Xbox, enjoyed it...looking for the PC version that is under R200 , where did you get it for R79 ??

I had the same problem when I first installed. Crashing every 5 minutes. After activation and running in WinXP compatibility mode I had no crashes. (Around 4 hours of gameplay)
I haven't downloaded any patches as yet as they are a bit big. No ADSL. Game works and looks fine. Playing on max graphics with 2xAA.

Got it from Look and Listen for R79. It's some "Super Hit" version. Same game with just a different casing. Electronic manual. The regular packed version is still R200 and the expansion is R299 I think o.0.

Cool will have a look there, i only saw the Expansion for that rather insane price , and felt for a game this old there got to be some edition below R100 by now.

I'm playing on windows7 fine, no glitches, great performance and the physX effects are awesome. Remember someone bought out Ascaron a while back. They even worked with Nvidia to get PhysX support.

Patched game makes the the retail release look like an Alpha. There's just such a huge difference. I can remember the trial when it came out, the bugs and the performance issues just made me leave it alone back then.

Take it back to where you bought it, or contact support with your problem. Show a receipt, proof of purchase to be recent, and take a pic of the box etc and then hold thumbs

Thread revival thanx to Humble Bundle sale. Got me Sacred 2 Gold and started playing it over the weekend.

Game reminds me a lot of the old RPG's I use to play back in the day(Slow and steady), just with better FX, and talking about FX if you want the elite texture pack that came with the collectors edition you can grab em over here. Be aware its 9 gig's of extra HD space once installed, but works fine.

Also I noticed some people complaining about game crashing on Windows 7 in this thread. Do not know about Windows 7, but I seem to have no problem on Windows 8.1 x64. Just on initial install I had to run the Physx in the Sacred 2 Gold\Redist folder manually. After that it was smooth sailing.

Multiplayer servers has been shut down some time back but LAN play functions no problem. You can always join Tungle groups or start up a Hamachi with friends. Just note from experience you should start Mumble after the game is started.

Oh and there is a Sacred 3 in development thanx to Deep Silver's purchase of the IP after initial dev house went under.

Anyway, enough of a thread revival, just wanted to add here what I found.

I found Sacred 2 horrendous. One of the most tedious and boring videogames I've ever had the displeasure of playing. I've tried getting into it a few times over the years, but I always get bored out of my mind within and hour or two of starting the game up.

Sacred Gold was a much better game for me.
