Dear Valued Customer,
Please take note of the below planned maintenance that will be taking place Thursday evening 11/10/2018. Services will be affected.
Summary:
Software upgrade Z-series nodes in Northern & Gauteng South Region to version 10.0.01 on Layer 2 services.
Description and Motivation:
The DFA APS team will be conducting a service affecting software upgrade on Z-series nodes in Northern & Gauteng South Region to version 10.0.01 on Layer 2 services (e.g. CEL, CEB, CEC, CEP, SER).
A significant increase in the number of policies and service monitoring (SOAM) instances for the 1G10G LT and LT-S performance elements is introduced in this release. This increase in the number of policies will allow service provider to deploy more services.
In addition to the currently available statistics, users can now receive data on SFP power levels and system health (CPU and Memory statistics).
Affected Nodes: Hetzner Z77-1, JHB-CBD Z77-1, PERSEQUOR-PARK CORE, Teraco Isando Core-3, Midrand Core-2.
Why Do We Need This Software Upgrade:

• Vendor support supports requires running software to be current and not more than two major release behind. (Accedian and Ciena/Cyan)
• Memory optimization, ERP blocking port stuck on SF condition, BCM warm boot cach – Z-Series release notes attached.
Traffic Policy support increase on Accedian LTS from 500 to 2000 Partially Service Affecting SW Upgrades Planned Work:
• All CEL services should not be affected - running in ERP rings.
• Services with partially protected routes will not be service affected.
• Services running in unprotected routes will be affected, and services that are terminating on a node where the software will be upgraded will also be affected.
Each node will be down for a maximum of 20 minutes while the PSW card is rebooted, where some services might be down twice or more times during the change window, provided the service runs through multiple nodes affected by the change.
Scope of Work:
Software upgrade on Z-series equipment.
The APS team will be resetting PSW cards.
Backout Plan:
Should there be any discrepancies experienced post planned maintenance, SADV NOC will notify the DFA SOC team who will also be monitoring with the APS team.

Hectic stuff following this thread and the time it has taken, we are also in the same boat now.

Plan has been signed off, everything handed in and now just waiting for feedback from SADV.

Will also try give feedback like the other guys have done before.

19/09/2018 - Sent information through to pinball to find out more, gets back they have not received the docs.
27/09/2018 - Email from SADV - contractor did site survey on behalf of SADV but never sent through their intentions to SADV. Apparently Contractor lost documents.
09/10/2018 - Signed Documents again, sent through and scanned backup copies.
17/10/2018 - Documents sent through to SADV, waiting feedback.

With regards to the fibre in Ormonde/Evans park.

I had a chat with the guys working on the fibre box on the corner of Dorado & Alwen rd. I asked them if it was live yet. And they said not exactly. They’ve picked up some problems so they busy testing all the connections, sorting them one by one.

The Indian guy also said that once they’re done. DFA still has to come and connect this box to the DFA backbone, which only they can do.

Only then the home installations can begin.
