SAIX Outage

Ye, I also had issues this afternoon with my Telkom internet. Was slow and half working. Also thought I was capped as a previous poster said. Reset my router, tried different saix accounts, no difference. Came onto mybb at about 15:30 to see if anyone had posted about it.

All seems fine now. :) Thanks for the posts.

EDIT: only saw this after I posted:

Very interesting. Wonder what the problem was.

LOL! <3 you too The_Librarian :D

Would love to know too.

I see a new notice is up for maintenance and posted around 15:30 today in the Noticeboard sub-forum.

Basic issue: Software - Telkom wishes to inform the public of planned maintenance on its SAIX Network Caching systems on 11 November 2012. During this time Internet users may experience degraded international connectivity affecting response and slow page download times. Local connectivity will not be affected. Telkom has taken all precautions to minimise the impact of this necessary exercise on services and wishes to thank its customers in advance for their patience during this time

When a server goes down you reboot it... the part where you decide to reboot a non-responsive router makes it "planned"

WTF?????????????

There must be a big problem then!

Still slow for me...Websites occasionally timeout aswell.
My internet is also extremely slow too.
I have no idea on what to do as it is just crashing websites and failed downloads.
VOIP with teamspeak is laggy and My ping is through the roof.

Speedtests.net says that my downlaod and uplaod speeds are normal.

Still lots of dropped packets for me, and very high pings.

This is truly an outrage now. I live in Douglasdale btw...
Hey, this in your area? from Saix noticeboard sub-forum here..
Hope it stays like this... my DL's are FLYING!!!!!
LOL no , you bluffing right :D

Fix the news servers quick!

Just logged into the news server (SAiX one) after months and it is flying on my 2MB uncapped. Totally forgot about it until i saw the thread above this one :p.

My international NS is however very intermittent :/.

Yea im sure thats my area. but they cant be half assed to fix it.

This is getting F'ing ridiculous! Left my PC to do some work for a few hours, thinking that when I get back it should be better - but it's actually become worse. Pings are huge!

I think we are on a temporary link that is shaped for international (local is full speed if you guys tested) which would be why speeds are so bad.

By tomorrow as you have seen the notices, we should be back to full capacity. I have tried so many variations to get my international at full speed but it isn't working.

It is frustrating but it has been many months since SAIX actually had this big of a problem. We just have to wait it out imo.

Is this problem affecting the whole country's SAIX users? Or just a specific region?

Not sure but i am back at full capacity on international, they worked fast is all i can say "doesn't want to jinx it" :p

Sorry MickeyD :D
