SAIX SMTP Server - periodic timeouts

I have been experiencing intermittent timeouts when sending email - MWEB ADSL subscriber (5MB cap) from the SAIX SMTP server. When it happens, no problems with retrieving email or browsing, and my ADSL line is absolutely stable.

Problem usually manifests when email is sent and uploads, but acknowledgement is not received by the email client program. Often the email has however actually been sent and is received!

I have now begun noticing a possible trend - when it happens it tends to be mid/late-afternoon.

Capacity problems on SAIX network?

Anybody else ever experience this?

Could it be something to do with MWeb's network being partially IS and partially SAIX based? I'd recommend using the MWEB smtp if you're connecting through them.

Mweb does not depend on anyone else's infrastructure anymore.

Yes - you want to change your config to Mweb's SMTP relay. I believe that they transparently redirect you anyway but that may not be reliable.
