After reading Dolbys thread I thought I'll start one of my own.

What was your annual increase like this year? What is the current inflation rate?

I joined my current company in November 2010 and just received a 7% increase.

I received a measly 6% increase, Although my boss acknowledged that I need a higher increase. She promised to motivate for a bigger increase within 6 months.

I received a 64% increase 2 years ago, 6% last year and this year I got 4% :(

My review was in October, got a 23% salary increase and 20% of my annual salary as a performance bonus :D

How about a nice cramp to go with that? :p

Last increase was pretty good but only getting bonus in Sept and already been warned it will be a joke.

is debatable.

Variables used to calculate inflatation leaves alot to be desired.

No it isn't, inflation is measured over a basket of goods and their weights in accordance to the preference of the buying habits of consumers.
Inflation in January was 3.7%.
If you keep buying Chips Ahoy cookies that seem to go up by R2 every month (20% increase) doesn't mean that inflation is 20%.

Joined my company permanently in September last year (from a contract position).
Didn't get a bonus or increase with everybody else in January (everybody got little white envelopes except me and the contractors).
When I asked about it, I was told it was because my permanent salary offer included my increase, so I should feel lucky that I got mine "early".

Meh.

7% last year. No bonus, no 13th cheque and we get paid on the 29th of each month. I'm getting too old for this sh*t.

2 years and had a 8% increase in total.
Moved jobs and got a 51% increase.
Have not had a chance to get my annual this year yet, but i would wager in the region of 4 - 6 %

Eish Guys and I thought **** was bad.......sheeeessssshh.......well right now the company is prepared to pay 6.5% but did not disclose whether its gonna be accross the board or based on performance. Employees and the Union wants 10% and threathing the bank with a strike so hopefully they will give in.

Bonusses was real crappy....last year at my previous employer got like 25% of annual package beofre taxes this year got like 15% of my Net salary..........

Are we supposed to get 13th cheques? As 'professional class' employees?

I don't think there are any companies that guarantee 13th cheques and many don't even offer them. So it's more of a show of good faith (or whatever) more than anything else. I was used to the good old 'Christmas Bonus' for many years at my previous company.
When I started in 2008 at the place I'm at now, they offered a decent annual performance bonus but then they scrapped that in 2009. So things are pretty 'bleh' these days.

That's the only realistic way of getting a 'proper' increase imo.
