Salary increase

Got increase this month. If it includes backpay then its only about 4%, if it does not include backpay then its 8%, but I'm sure it includes backpay.

Its actually quite amusing to see how many people are no longer satisfied with their employers...

The loyalty etc aspect has completely gone out of the window in recent years.

I believe I am quoting some Pirate but "my loyalty lies with the highest bidder"

Why would an employee be loyal when employers are not?

It stopped a few years after companies stopped looking after their employees. Employers, not employees, are to blame.

Its how you treat people that affects how you treat them. And, respect is earned, not given. If an employer doesnt earn your respect, how can he expect loyalty?

Also why would you expect loyalty from someone you are paying to be there? Do you think they are there for their enjoyment? No, they are there because you pay them, and the second you dont pay them, they will leave.

I think there is something wrong with people who forget that people work for money. It typically happens in corporations - they throw all the buzzwords around, like synergy, passion and teamwork, but its all fake and meaningless. They want to artificially create a good working culture - you cant do it artificially! It happens organically or it doesnt happen at all, and if it doesnt happen, blame lies solely with the employer.

Changing careers (going into Health & Safety), new salary nets me an extra 38%, free medical for myself, double accidental death at work cover, get paid while doing various courses (all overseas), better medical insurance rates for the family, scope for growth.

Downside; slightly less job stability, jump in work load and having to put up with non compliant senior personnel.

Looking forward to it!

Mine would be 0% increase and been there for 4 years in April

No salary increase this year, still getting paid the same would have thought they would have increased my pay since I have been with them for a few years.

Not like they don't have money since I do their books :D. Their books were 10 years backlogged when I joined them lol so I don't see why they can't pay me more since I am doing them a favour.
