I am getting tired of having a chlorine pool and would like to know if anyone can share thoughts/views/experiences on having or converting to a salt pool?

We have a salt pool- perfectly clear.
Only add chlorine now and then to stabilize it. And its easy on the eyes! :)
I think we put a 20KG bag of salt every couple months or so-not sure.
Google :p

I had one (Clearwater I think) in my last place and if we ever have another pool would insist on having another installed. It made life so much simpler just chucking in a bag of salt every couple of months.

man I hate all salt pool owners now :o ........ having such a mission getting mine blue and keeping it so :(

The blue52 stuff also works wonders. The ad is actually right for once.

Not sure what nasty chemicals go into it though...

blue52 can trip and drown .... it does squat .... what a waste of cash that was

Huh? We've had endless trouble with our pool...tried various chlorine brands & stablizers & floculants...nothing worked. Blue52 = pool has been perfectly blue for last 1.5 years...even if the pump isn't running for 15 days.

mebbe tis the climate thing ..... too much humidity here in Durbs? If I think about it, anyone I know with a pool here has complained about blue52 not working ... so maybe it is.

Salt is awesome. We have the Zodiac thingy and I love swimming in it. The water feels softer and smells like the sea.

Try pool magic www.poolmagic.co.za. (available at most Game and Pick 'n Pays) We struggled with our pool at our KZN beach house and a pool expert came and recommended that stuff - it works wonders due to being chlorine free in the humidity.

"So fresh it smack of sea".

Guess from which advert many years ago.

I cant stand the salt ones. Irritates my skin for some reason.
We use bioguard, some american stuff, no chlorinator, no salt, just a floater (lasts a month in summer) and a packet of granular chlorine every week and the pool hasnt been green in about 4 years.

i wanna try build my own chlorinator sometime, thats cheaper and more fun!!

If i had my own pool it would be Salt water built by myself.

+1 for salt water.

They only thing I have against it is that it dries out your skin, or at least it feels like that. But then that can also be a positive thing: After you had a nice swim ask the misses to rub some cream on you back ;)
