Took me 3 months to get a new phone.......
Had the motorola z8 for a week then it broke...
Got a replacement and it broke again....
then i wanted the SE w910i....they said sure we will have stock in 1 week....i said cool....i waited for 2 months then whent to them and said this is BS....
guy gave me a list with the prices and say I should pick one for R3500 before there markup and vat is included

Had it for a week now and all I can say is very very nice
Getting a 8gig MSD card this weekend.
Sound is great, screen is awesome and everything works well -> great.
Really don't think this is the most powerfull phone on the market by a long shot but for the price I got it for I am more than happy. (I also don't run a business from my phone)
Now I just hope it lasts a year

Not a good phone, had one for 5 days, took it back, all keys and touch screen stopped working. there was power, but it accepted no input. Very dissapointed

How is the typing? I am not sure that I will ever be able to type faster on a small qwerty keyboard than on a normal keypad with T9 on...Had it for a week now and all I can say is very very nice

Its fine, im already using it...lol...im chatting to friends on gtalk and msn, and i can keep up with them from my cell
Im still enjoying the phone, and every day I learn something new about it

I'm upgrading on MTN and decided i'll just get this phone because i did not want to pay in or take any bigger contract for these HTC-beasts (R300+ per month + R2000+ pay in..somewhere i have to draw the line).
This phone seem to be pretty much an IPhone competitor rather than a HTC-PDA competitor, except i'm certain you won't get the IPhone as cheaply as this phone [even though the iphone can't do alot more].
....so for those that do not know. It's FREE on MTN MYcall100 [equivalent of the weekender] . So i'd guess it be free at vodacom in some form too.

I got this phone as it's pretty decent for the priceplans you get it on [free on mycall100]. It's definitely not a smartphone, but can do all the stuff you normally do on a phone.
It does not have a well supported OS [not symbian or WM], so only stuff you will get for it is Java based.
So far it's ok, only things i would want is a dedicated answer/reject button not located on the actual screen.
NOTE: just a word of warning, the default firmware [samsung's own] does NOT allow ANY installation of applications [no java, nothing] . Wtf, were they thinking? However, and amusingly enough the VODAFONE firmware [i assume the Vodacom versions of this phone have it] DOES allow java application installation.
So basically, i already reflashed my phone with Vodafone firmware. So i now got vodafone menus and icons all over show, but i think installing apps overrides that inconvenience.
In short : If you want to install things like MXit, Gmail Mobile, Opera Mini ...and you do not have the Vodafone Firmware [or some special firmware i'm not aware of] you WILL have to reflash your phone to install these apps.

diabolus - any chance of sharing that Firmware version?
Can't seem to find a version that supports Java installations. Don't mind the Vodafone menu's.

can you download the firmware to pc and then install it on your phone or do you have to download it directly to your phone? how is it done?
im a noob at these things

So yes, download to PC, run a little app , click some button on your phone to make it go into the "download new firmware" mode, plug into pc...and flash. Relatively easy.
The firmware is about 60MB download.
I suggest download both firmwares on the site [original samsung one and the vodafone one]. So that you can easily revert back if you don't like a certain firmware.
