Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Ok, so it seems the Lumia is a no go. Can any of you guys convince me that I will get used to using this monstrosity? Also, if I do get used to using the thing, who can tell me I'm not gonna look like a total retard talking on the phone into an iPad! :D

When I got the Note 1 I ended up hating it for the first week. After that week I got used to the size and fell in love with it.
And so Note 2 became natural progression.

I don't care what people think of me using the device so no issue there.

Who cares how you look? If you care about that then go get an Iphone:p. As for size I'm battling using anything else now. Other people's phones look like small toys. Even the S3 seems real tiny to me now:D

That's partly what I'm worried about. Even with my S3, my old iPhone 4s looks tiny. I'm going to be forever stuck using GOLIATH as my phone. :p

You don't look like an idiot. Quite the opposite.

People go 'Wow that guy/girl must be soooper cool, that fone lookz like da shizz'. It's thin and has a very exec finish to it. You seem like someone who knows what the hell they're doing, unlike everybody else.

I don't think I'm just fooling myself.

If you're on a forum asking strangers to convince you that you'll look good using the phone you obviously already have a secret desire to own one. Just go get it already! :D

On a more serious note (pun intended) - every hipster and wannabe carries around an iPhone, if you want to get noticed you need this phone.

I don't know where you are located, but if you are close by a Samsung Brand Store, they should be able to assist or alternatively some of the bigger MTN or Vodacom Flagship stores.

Tried the Samsung in canalwalk and all the Mtn and Vodacom stores, none had.

What deal would you take to get your hands on a Note II with a solid contract for airtime/data?
8ta sucks, as I don't know anyone with an 8ta number and the deals are bad value for me (75 min 8ta to 8ta/telkom and only 15 min to anyone else??! LMAO)
CellC deal looked better than MTN or Vodacom.

This is what I did and I still believe it's most likely the best deal to be had (but stand to be corrected). Get a Red Bull Mobile contract - RBM200 (R249). Secondly buy the Note 2 through the FNB offer (you're going to need a FNB Cheque account into whcih your salary is paid) for R285 per month (R50 discount per month if you've recently opened a cheque account with them). Finally, sell the phone that comes with the RBM200 contract and use to subsidise your phone or contract costs.

Two things:
- Ask for a microsim when getting the RBM200 contract.
- Wait till mid-February if you want to go this route. Red Bull Mobile are apparently going to be offering new phones then, so you'll probably get a more up to date phone than the ones on offer now.

For a maximum of R535 (R250 + R285 ) per month you get 200 minutes, 500mb and 100 sms's and the minutes carry over each month.

If you get the R50 per month FNB discount and you manage to sell the RBM phone it can work out quite a bit cheaper.

i got a pen for my note 1 about a year ago from samtech. they where alot cheaper than anywhere else. they in bolt avenue montague gardens

thanks, phoned them but their phone is always engaged. emailed them,hope they respond.

@martin

Thanks for taking the time to give me that great advice!
The problem for me is that I don't know whether RBM will release updated deals as promised.
The RBM team seriously needs to catch a wake up call.

@rudig

Another option would be:
Go for the FNB deal as Martin said. R285.
Get a Cell C 2GB contract. Through Mweb it's R89pm, through Cell C R99.
Pay 99c p/m for phone calls anywhere anytime on the data sim. Let's say you phone 200 minutes = R198.

Total R582 (for phone + 200mins + 2GB).
