Battery life I must say is epic! Did OTA update, downloaded in just over an hour though (which is kinda slow but not nearly as bad as some of you guys), then got the 29Mb stability update did that as well. Battery life is amazing, think they added something in the new kitkat kernel. The deep sleep mode is great!! Used my phone for a bit, went to sleep woke up about 9 hours later and it was on 92%. I kept the phone on the entire night, seems like it lost 2-3% during the entire night!!

Unlocking the device is lightning fast now, although i really use the unlock screen as i've got the s-view cover. Camera quality also got quite a nice buff i must admit. Pictures are definitely clearer now! The only issue i have, with the drop down notification bar. Sometimes it bugs out and only drops halfway and sort of freaks out. Not sure if anyone else has noticed this? Or is it just me?

Any ideas why when the unbranded units (ie not network supplied) would get the 4.4 update if there was no testing and meddling from the networks? Not sure of the correct terms, but my SM-N900 came direct from samsung sa, so it has no network branding or involvement, i thought the update would have pushed through before voda, mtn etc. I do use a mtn sim card if this makes any difference?
Thanks

I see everyone talking about this second 29MB update. I never got one. And phone does get locked up if you lock it and then want to unlock quick.

So if Im reading right, you lost 2-3% battery life while the phone was in the deepsleep overnight ? If thats the case I dont see a difference. Mines on 4.3 still and i lose only 3% overnight with wifi/data on and syncing accounts etc. without the powersaving options on

I don't have any sim in my Note 3. I use my Afrihost Mifi and use the Note purely for internet purposes only. So technically I am not on any network. How do I go about updating it? Really don't want the Vodacom update. Hate the splash screen that it comes bundled with.

Ok, well for some reason before the update I used to lose roughly 5-7% and one night it went to 10% due to spike in emails and facebook notifications over night. But yeah, i have the same conditions as you except my power saving mode is always on.

I have the polish version of 4.4.2 and have also noticed that it sometimes takes up to a second to turn on the screen when i unlock not like the video before.

But i think i must maybe reset the phone.

I assume you will have to download the update via Kies and then update using ODIN.

Are any of you Android geeks getting the OTA update on N9005 (CELLC)?

If not can I just mosey on down to SAMMOBILE and download any N9005 version and install via Odin?

No news on Cell C as yet, but you are correct, can use any of them on sammobile

People have been complaining the last couple of days that when they speak to me there is a terrible echo on the line.

Think Im going to flash the SA version tonight, and see if that helps.

I'm trying to trade up my S4 for a Note 3.

Just a few concerns.

Do you get fake Note 3s and how do I tell?

Is there a risk involved in getting someone else's phone? Lets say they got it on contract and then stop paying their contract, but sold me their phone...

Did the same
There was an app I downloaded that will check if it's a genuine note 3 but I'm not sure of the name and how accurate it is. Check on the play store.

Also not sure what will happen if they stop paying the contract...

I'm wondering the exact same thing, i've also got the SM-N900 from FNB though and haven't received any updates since I've bought the device in November 2013. Anyone have any advice, would it be safe to update on the British version and also do you need Odin to install it?

Thanks in advance.

Yes it will definitely be safe, and yes will need Odin. Not sure if british version has been released for N900, just check
Download it from sammobile, will need to sign up
