Anyone in Durban get their hands on a Note 3 yet and if so, from where? I am going to try and hunt one down tomorrow :P

hi Mikrouwel ,
yes i got mine yesterday at Vodashop Gateway, they have stock.(how many i do not know .)
Just one disappointment.Nobody has any S view covers ( should cost around R700..800 ? ),they should have stock next week sometime.?
This means you have to carry N3 "bareback" till stock arrives"sometime",
Ok, before i forget the(Vodacom N9005 Lte) voda "bloat"apps, you can uninstall no problem ,only annoying thing left is the Vodacom /Samsung splash screen. The Samsung " bloat apps " i disabled, in applications ,(so i have very little "bloat apps", overall)

Vodacom deals for the Note 3 is now on their web site.....

They only show the black one? That sucks. :( I'll probably swing by the two local Vodacom shops to see if either of them have it yet.

Edit: I see the white one is also available. :)

Thanks man, I will give them a call this morning to see if they still have stock :)

Do you know if I could use a Cell C sim card in it or will it void the warranty?

Has anyone tried rooting/flashing it yet? :)

Well a Note 1 is very old by now so it should be a huge upgrade.

Rooting causes that stupid exclamation mark to appear at boot, like on the Galaxy S4 or newer versions of the S3. Those are easy to remove when going back to stock though, should you need to. They should have it sorted for the Note 3 as well soon.

This happened to my S3. How does one get rid of it? It is already on stock...

I'm worried about the battery life on this thing now, after charging it all night it's been off the charger for barely 20 minutes and the battery is already on 98%, and all I did was make a 7 minute phone call.

And in the time it took to type this post and attach the screenie, another percent left us.

Just install BetterBatteryStats and forget about your battery issues for a few days. Then check the statistics.

A new battery takes some time before it starts functioning optimally, say one or two weeks.

I would not worry about it.

*Just check that you have it selected to turn off the screen when you're making a phone call.

98 after a phone call? That's pretty good.

Seems to be getting better already, this is with an hour of screen-on time.

So the Vodacom Smart S is then a leetle bit better?

yes, but if you add a data bundle onto that, you get in and out of bundle at 15c/MB.

in favt, if they gave no sms and 30min call time i'd be ok. i don't like phoning people and since whatsapp, i don't sms. in the last two years i have sent probably 20 smss, possibly less.

Hehe.... So what are you going to do with your Note 2?

Put it back in its box, or give it to my dad. :D

Been to the local Vodashop, they don't know when they'll get the Note 3. Might as well apply online, I've got nothing to loose. That R449 contract really appeals to me. :)

Don't miss the R529 for Smart M - almost double of everything!

So, I saw the Note III today at a shop:

Some cool things:

1) It's really light
2) Solid build
3) Screen (drool)

Some not so cool things

1) The leather back. Since they've added fake stitching, it take away the premium feel of the cover
2) The interface. Instead of using the extra screen space, they just made everything bigger. I looks horrible. For example, when you pull down the notification bar, those quick toggles, there are still only 5 viewable. Everything just looks oversized.

Other than that, I'm sure the guys that buy it would be happy, looks like nice phone.

so i'm really happy with cellc's data prices for out of bundle, but not so happy with a 100mb bundle on the note 3 contract.

how's spermcount mobile's prices and bundles looking? anyone got an idea? also, anyone got official cellc prices? where's that cellc rep hiding?

I saw at century city and they had an exhibition there. I really really really like this phone just confirmed it for me :) hope mtn gets on tue :D
