For R200??? No way I trust that battery in my R9000 phone.

So if they sold it to you for R 1200.00 you would suddenly trust it ?

I have been using $ 5.00 batteries in my Note 3 on long trips as backups, and same priced ones on my previous S 3 with no difference noticed compared to the OEM one.

I won't use generic batteries at all. No matter what the price is.

There doesn't seem to be stock of the Note 3 anywhere in Cape Town (Vodacom)? - or does anyone have any better info?

I upgraded (downgraded) a couple of months ago from my HTC One (M7) to the Note 3.

It isn't that big and you quickly get use to the size, but I have to say that it just doesn't feel as good
as the HTC in terms of quality.

As soon as I can get my hands on the new M8/HTC One Max I am swopping back :P

Kind of obvious that a plastic phone (not just Samsung, all brands) won't feel as good as the HTC one's . Heck even those crappy overpriced fruit phones feel better.

Have to admit i do miss the sense interface, even though most people hate it.

Let me see why I don't buy HTC anymore :

1. Poor battery life
2. Poor camera
3. Display is not as good as Samsung Amoled
4. No removable storage/micro SD card slot
5. No removable battery
6. No HTC support in South Africa
7. No HTC ADH (Accidental Damage while Handling) premium

Ok. That's why. ;)

HTC is crap. I had one... It worked for 3 months, I had to use my old phone for the remainder of the 24 month contract, because Vodacom refused to assist in fixing it and the official repair channel told me to get knotted.

1. Poor build quality
2. Software issues rendering the phone useless, even if you reboot or power cycle.
3. Buttons fell off within 3 months.
4. NO SUPPORT WHATSOEVER
5. A nightmare to get your contacts or any other kind of info, into the phone, and off again.

I still have the phone, stripped it the other day, what a piece of JUNK.

I'm not even going to bother to go a page back to see who insinuated that Htc is better than Samsung, not in our country, overall after sale support alone is like day and night between the two.

I gave up on Htc being a worthy brand after the Sensation XE failed to make it down here and Htc's customer service was next to non-existent when I queried, that to me was a sign to go with Samsung, glad I did. :)

I'm not a brand loyal person. I'm go for whatever is good at the time. I went for the note cause it was good at the time and for me is still the best not even the s5 seems like an upgrade.

Agreed, the Note in my opinion still remains the best Samsung smartphone until the next Note arrives, it's for that reason I've skipped the GS5. :)

OK I came from the HTC One X which I used for almost two years.

Just my opinion:

l - Excellent build quality .
2 - No SD card.
3- Non removable battery,
4 -The battery life was poor.
5 - At the time the screen was on par with the S3. Less vivid but more natural.
6 - Zero Support in SA.
7 - No AHD. But at the time neither was there for S3.
8 - S-Off made it difficult to root and install custom Roms.

The Note 3 feels nice in the hand. Plastic is always going be flimsy but easy to replace and remove battery.

Only down side to Samsung is Knox and Touch Whiz.

My note 3 had been restarting on its own ever so often (some days few times in a day) ever since the update. Anyone else experience this? Becoming very frustrating

Do a factory reset and if you still experience the spontaneous restarts, take it to a Samsung Service Centre.

Loving this phone! Great upgrade from the S2. The screen is stunning and I find the size is not an issue.

Any hidden tricks I should know about this phone?

Also, my girlfriend is in America and wants to buy me the Galaxy gear 2 Neo... However, I'm on the fence about it.
