hi Viva ,
i have a Note 3 ,i watched this video and started laughing ,at this ,only one word i call it "crap/bull...."
my stock gallery opens instantly ,no lag..facts .!!!( i have quite a lot of photo's in gallery)
yes, i know ,first time if you transfer photo's to phone( the gallery) it must first make thumbnails for cache.(i know some users say they transfer a few thousand photo's to phone (why they do this ?, they will only know) but yes the gallery on first load takes time to make thumbnails depending on amount of photo's etc..
After that its smooth overall...(for me its a fact.!)
I suspect this is what this ignorant user did /or otherwise he's just trying to get "attention"! or
lastly his phone is "defective" and should change it .!
I have seen similar post from ignorant users that complaint about this so called lag, but they dont know that the" media storage process" can take a long time( hours ) to index photo 's and can also drain battery in this attempt.
plse, don't believe this its not true overall
Why don't you try it yourself and see ?

Probably the majority of people who buy Samsung phones.

That, however, is besides the point. It is shocking that they Samsung released such bad software, especially on their latest flagship.

I just ordered my Note 3 LTE from Vodacom direct. Does it come with a microSD card? And does anyone have a pic of the flip cover vodacom is giving free on the Smart S contract?

Delivery is expected tomorrow.

Just came across this video. Have any of you experienced this?

Yeah I've experienced the laggy gallery. It was annoying but I quickly remembered what OS I'm on and downloaded an alternative from the Play store.

There are a lot of reports from users on the XDA forums as well. It's obviously a software issue since it doesn't affect other gallery apps.

The Video was posted by Ron Amadeo. He previously worked for Android Police. He regularly does APK teardowns (something he kinda pioneered and popularised). He now works for Ars Technica. You will probably not find a more knowledgeable Android user out there.

point i was making is,
that i have got no and i repeat no lag, with the gallery app on Note 3(as he claims i should ? why then ??.)
nevermind "gallery app" as such, as a rule i use Quickpic.( for my pictures.)
Anycase his claim "fastest phone ever ,slowest gallery ever " referring to Note 3,is incorrect according to me.
bottom line ,
i have also years of knowledge with android use,(regarding phones ,software ,tips and tricks, tweaks, flashing.. etc...,
so that part means nothing to me, as to who he is !!!!)

if you got time read post, on xda regarding his review and you will see what i mean.

As I understand, the issue presents it self when the gallery fetches pictures from Dropbox and Google Drive. It sounds like integration with these services is a feature, but one of you with the phone will have to confirm.

Got tired of waiting for TM contract pricing so i called a few Vodacom stores to see who had stock. They were all out of stock except for Sandton City, who had got a new batch yesterday. Needless to say, i hung up the call, drove straight to them and left with my LTE edition in hand. :D

All i can say is WOW!!! what a massive upgrade from my DHD. Still waiting for my number to be ported but all in all i cant put the phone down. It had about 54% battery life out of box. Connected it via wifi till i went to bed (from 6.30 pm till midnite) so it spent most of the time downloading and installing my apps while i played around with the UI and S-Pen and Air gestures. Battery life was around 26% when i went to bed which i thought was impressive

Yeah that's what I like to hear! Just a heads up when porting to Vodacom, make sure that they activate your LTE.

Otherwise you will be sitting with "No Service" notification all the time.

Got my phone on Tuesday and only today they figured out that my LTE was not enabled. Enabled it and 5 minutes later my phone worked.

No one could call me for two days...

Did you order an upgrade or new contract from them? I ordered an upgrade two days ago and called them yesterday inquiring about the delivery date so they said they do not have stock and will only receive stock next week. So I said OK cool thanks for letting me know then the sales person told me I have another contract ready for upgrade... :what:. They took my upgrade application as a new contract application, which obviously I do not want. So I told them please cancel that application and I will rather go to a VC shop and upgrade. Now this morning I get a sms saying my new contract is ready and on its way:eek:

A question for those who got the Note 3. Can you use your existing 3G sim in the phone, or do you have to get a LTE sim?

Spoke to someone at Vodacom and he told me nope you can't, Samsung told me yes it will work.
I don't care about Lte and didn't wanna risk it so I just got the Octa Note.

I got a new sim, since mine was a new contract. But I just inserted a MTN sim into my Note and it picked up LTE.

Also on the Vodacom website they don't mention that you need a new sim. It has to be atleast 64k and the LTE service should be activated!

I'm noting that on my Vodacom Note 3 it displays 4G and not LTE...

Anyone else that can see 4G?

Vodacom does that. It's the same for everyone on Vodacom LTE.

i noticed that unlike the note2, this one lets you use the pen on the buttons on either side of the home button. the handwriting recognition Works quite well - i did all this by writing. it's a little different to what it was like writing on my eriksson p910.

screen on for just over three hours. i'm using the octa core note3. I haven't plugged it in at all and I've been playing with the lock screen a lot. :)1380826970883.jpg
