No issue with the cover. Just don't like the look of it. Personally I think the full flip cover looks "classier" and for that I sacrifice not being to answer the phone without opening the cover.

Hey guys,

So I was wondering if anyone here could help me. I recently rooted my Note 3 using root de la vega successfully (I fortunately didnt do the firmware upgrade) and now I want to flash a custom ROM (X-Note v7) without tripping Knox and wanted to know of anyone has done it successfully and if so how its gone :)

I've gotten rid of my Note3, but as far as I can tell, this would be impossible. You'd need a custom recovery to flash a custom ROM, and a custom recovery will always trip Knox. All you could do safely (which I did do, before selling the Note) is - after rooting with UDLV - to use Mobile Odin to flash more recent official firmwares than we get here in SA.

Also has anyone tripped there Knox e-fuse and taken there phone in because of an issue?

Thanks in advance guys :D

Look for Kn0x0ut Toolbox over at XDA. Looks like it is possible.

Wanted to try the phablet size to see if it worked for me - it didn't. Too large, and I wasn't using the stylus enough to merit sticking with the device for that reason. So I picked up a Nexus 5 instead (being a long-term fan of the 'pure' Nexus sort of experience in any case).

So how are you finding the Nexus 5? How does the "everyday experience" compare to the Note 3?

Odd that Stuff, the most rabid bunch of iSycophants this side of Cerebus, didn't rate the iPhone 5 as number one.

Shocked as well from a publication that proudly admits they use the word "iPhone" more than the word "THE". I am intrigued to see what criteria makes these phones better than the Note?

The iPhone has an Apple on it. Apparently that makes it the best phone out there

I am posting this from my iPhone and it is a great device. But honestly i would give it up in a heartbeat to get my S4 back. That was truly the best device i ever had.

The iPhone has great specs but for me i love Samsung more. Other users may differ. Don't get me wrong i love my iPhone but it just isn't as great as Samsung for me

This seems to be the opposite of what most Apple users say... They usually admit that the iPhones' specs are not very impressive, but claim that that isn't important. On pure power, the Note 3 and LG G2 (and maybe the Sony Z Ultra) are miles ahead. And only the Note 3 has the huge 3GB RAM.

Beg to differ. Spec don't matter to Apple users only when the competition is better spec'd. Case in point is screen resolution. Of course they quickly change the tune when Apple surpasses the competition. Case in point, the speed of the processor didn't matter when the Snapdragon 600 and 800 SOCs were released until Apple released the A7. By the way, the iPhone 5s crushes all the phones you mentioned on "pure power"

Just thrown my toys out the cot at Vodashop. What a racket!

On Smart L sim only contract = R349
Plus phone it changes to R499 plus R4579 once off on Note III
So that gives you R150 x 24 = R3600 + R4579 = R8179 that the phone costs you.
They got me there by telling me I can upgrade and the phone will cost me R649. (yea, I know, should have known better)

So, I am reading here somewhere that STB have a special of R7999 (incuding Gear ?) and also about people buying in the East. So what is the best price one can get? I am not interested in the watch, my arm is to thick for it in any case.

For now I will let my current contract run out, switch to a sim only contract to keep my number and stick with my Note (which is still working perfectly), till I get an offer I can not refuse. I suppose I can not keep my number on pay as you go? That would be ideal for me, coupled with an Afrihost data device.

Am I missing something somewhere?

:erm: Ngwe, you better go do some research before making bold claims.

The Note 3 is far faster the 5s in synthetic benchmarks, or as you say in 'pure power'.

BTW, if you take the package Vodashop pushes, the phone costs you R150 + R649 = R799 pm x 24 = R19176 !
