I am running the official lollipop at the moment and I am struggling to root this device.
Any advice before I take the plunge and install CM?

I've always used minimal and then added what I needed from play store. Last I heard PAGapps was discontinued.

It will be a big change from TW to CM. But if you can adjust it's a much better Android experience. Your battery life will drop from 5/6 hours screen on to 3.5/4 hours. As for most of the S-Pen features you can get Spencommander for that. And if you don't like it after all can always go back to TouchWhiz but then switch to Omega. I really liked that stripped down TW feel but CM is still my favourite.

Rooting shouldnt be hard. CF Auto root via Odin and you'll be sorted. But you're gona lose Warranty/Knox trip 0x1.

My warranty tripped quite a while ago, I am not too phased. I could root my phone easily before Lollipop but for some reason, I can't get it right now.

I tried to flash with CF Auto Root through Odin 3.09 but it failed.

You already have a custom recovery installed?

Ok if you have TWRP installed. Get the latest supersu flashable zip. Install the Rom you want. Flash the gapps and the supersu zip. All via TWRP. That might work.

I'm loving it.

Still can't root though, need to get rid of this twrp.
 
Thanks, I have the latest of everything and the proper files but it's still not rooted.
 
Hey guys, stupid Q.

If my phone isn't rooted and I have the Poland 5.0 Lollipop, can I simply flash the SA 4.4.2 KitKat back with Odin?
