Anyone else experiencing high battery drain?
hi,
My battery drain so far on Marshmallow,
is similar to Lollipop. .
I get in sleep mode (overnight)
about 3 /4 % battery drain re 8...10 hrs
Further, i am a medium power user.
eg. 4G and wifi on demand otherwise off.
I update weather, read twitter.., forums
Play music, Bluetooth on via my running
Polar hart rate apps Also Bluetooth connection to Gear watch etc.
My average battery use is about
+- 40 % re +- 19/20 hours.
So i have about 55 %. 60 % left at end.
(i am not so obsessed with SOT (screen time)
However, i have noticed/read a lot of complaints re Marshmallow battery drain
on Internet.
Personally , i think and also found Marshmallow, Note 5
has quite a few bugs /issues.?
After factory reset on Marshmallow
, some previous bugs/issues have returned
after a few days,(factory resetting)
eg If i switch Bluetooth on my alarm
clock icon appears and dissappears
after a minute or two.!
Bottom line we have to deal with it, and sort it out. (fix)
I suggest if you are not rooted, try GSam
battery app (free Play store)
In app you will see at bottom
small icon App sucker.
It will give you an indication
off apps battery use / details . Quite handy app(better than stock)
Good luck

My Note's s-pen sensor stopped working. The pen works though. It just doesn't know when I take it out.

They probably going to send it away.
Hi,
Just a tip.. to remember.
Samsung has a few Samsung Smart Care Centres around the Country.?
I am in Durban and when i wanted to change my Gear watch battery, i phone them (best is to speak to someone in management.?)
It might help, to speed up things
They had or can order part.
Well they had my Gear battery,
took it to them Phoenix, Durban area
and they changed my battery (sealed Gear)
It took me about 1 hour.
Then when my Note 8.0 USb charging port gave in. They could order part from Jhb,
The would have part by next day.
So i could take it in and wait. (Have not yet have time to sort it out. yet)
But you must "arrange" beforehand.
Good luck

I phoned Samsung in Canal Walk today about the S-Pen Sensor in my phone that's not working. According to the technician they have to send the phone in and it will take 3 to 5 working days.

I also phoned the Tygervalley store and according to them they might be able to do it while I wait. But they first have to open it to see if it must be sent in. Then it will also take 3 to 5 working days.

Anyone have any experience with Tygervalley Samsung Store?

hi ,
plse note ,
there is a difference in Samsung Smart Care Centres ( i referred to in my post )
and the general Samsung stores you normally find in shopping centres.
Samsung Smart Care Centres ,is a service centre that only does repairs to Samsung products etc etc .
Samsung store( franchises) is normally a store that sells Phone ,tablets etc etc )
If you take it to a general Samsung store ,yes they will send it to a Samsung Smart care centre ...to fix .!!
I suggest that you ask the Samsung store for the Samsung Care centre phone no .
It will speed up the repair of your device !!.
Also note ,most of the sales people in Samsung store ..
will not directly refer you to a smart care centre because
( according to my impression ) they are ignorant about the purpose/existence of Samsung Smart care centres.
I was by chance ( Vodacom ) referred to them and telephone no given .
You can take it directly to a Samsung Smart care centre.
Plse note
If it might help ,
you can phone the Durban Smart care centre (0315692806 )
and ask them what the Cape town Smart Care centre no is //or if there is a Samsung Smart Care Centre in Cape Town area .
Good luck

Any news on when xfa will get marshmallow?
Don't have a clue. I'm taking my phone to Samsung on Saturday to get the s-pen sensor replaced.

They will probably update the firmware first just to make sure it's not a software issue.

Just an update about the high battery usage. I let my Note die completely and the charged it to full and the battery now lasts me about a day and a half with fairly high usage.

Nope. Went to Samsung in Tygervalley yesterday morning.

I got pissed off because the "techie" didn't know what he was talking about. So I left with s-pen sensor still not working and of course no Marshmallow because according to him it is not available yet in South Africa.

He said I should leave my phone there then they will send it in on Tuesday for a software upgrade. Only then they will be able to test the phone to see what the problem is.

So how do they want to do a software upgrade if "it is not available yet in South Africa"??

And to top it all the guy who was in line before me complained because he's been waiting almost 4 weeks for he's phone.

To be fair I don't think xfa is available yet as it's not available on Sammobile - sorry you didn't come right though

Why dont you take it to the samsung repair centre. They are behind the century city mall. They do software up dates and repairs no issues. They are not in the mall. I have the number if you need.

I'll probably go there on Tuesday. I saw them when I Googled Samsung Service Centers.

I'll let you know if I get sorted there.
