Did u do a factory reset?
No dirty flash.
firstly, to lazy to re install all apps again.
If you read my previous post, i had issues with auto rotate since i got Note5 in October 2015.
Factory reset then did not help.
Officially reporting issue to Samsung SA. (i got reference no then) did not help.
Two x OTA did not fix it and the factory reset then. also did not. So another factory reset.. no!
Auto rotate is missing from my notification shortcuts. Only if i installed 3rd party auto rotate did it appear. I can then enable auto rotate with 3rd party app. I i switch 3rd party app off, my official auto rotate dissappears.
(It is not in the "other" edit drop down shortcuts)
Samsung told me to install a notification shortcut fix but it did not work.
Bottom line it works 100%with 3rd party app, so i am not worried about it.
Good luck
post entry
my smart stay also did not work even though
i had icon in notification bar.
However in Marshmallow now, i have not got it at all ?

Are you not using a Launcher like Nova or something?

I prefer Nova above all launchers and it does have auto rotate.

Hi,
yes i use Nova Prime.
I tried the Nova screen orientation setting (that time) but it did not activate my notification auto rotate.
Only when i installed 3rd party app and enabled it did it show up.
I Google the Samsung missing notification
icons issue and found it it to be a very common bug /issue for Samsung.
I found nearly most Samsung devices had such dissappearing notification issues.
Eg S6 devices plus many other Samsung devices suffer from this bug. (This was my opinion after Googling issue)
So yeah, its a bug and you can Google it and see. There's supposed to be apps from Samsung in Samsung Store that fixes issue, but it did not work for me.
Anyway, it doesn't bother me anymore.
Good luck

hi,
Anyone who can explain this Marshmallow issue ,please ?
Take a look first ,at 2 x screenshots attached.
It from 3rd party app Phone info.. plus another screenshot ,from device system.
Now yesterday i flashed Marshmallow Android v 6.0.1 /CSC/Product code XFE
I am with Vodacom so it will be XFV...?
If you look at Phone Info screenshot, you will see my CSC is still XFV..? Product code etc
1...
Anybody can explain why CSC did not change or am i missing a few pointers.?
Also i know if you flash a different CSC,your CSC should aslo change ?
(as in the past devices i flashed)
Another issue ,
is my boot screen did not change. It is still a Vodacom bootscreen ..?
Bottom line ,
whose product code CSC is XFE ?
that it did not change anything ..Vodacom .or an unbranded SA ROM ..?
2.Also
i noticed that when i wanted to copy the screenshot from my Note5 to mini usb OTG ( Sandisk.),
it did not want to permit me !
It informed me " write access " it was forbidden to media card .
The system then gave me an option,
if i wanted, to grant write permission for the "media card ( for write access. )
'i ticked... yes .
I was then granted write access ( see screenshot )
Tested procedure again afterward and working fine .
i can copy and paste photo's etc .
Also device now does not give you option to eject USB in notification, like in past.
You just pull OTG out .!
( only an info notice that its connected for transfering photos and media )
Any comments ??

1. Look at available csc at the bottom of the screen. What I also picked up on cam and mid csc, both had afrikaans as available language which was never before on any none ZA firmware. Thinking firmwares are multi csc now. Remembering seeing on xda on the initial cam version some one mentioned it had more than one csc available. Mine is showing as XSG........ after flashing xfe....

2. It has to do with marshmallow new permission system.
To protect the system's integrity and the user's privacy, Android runs each app in a limited access sandbox. If the app wants to use resources or information outside of its sandbox, the app has to explicitly request permission. Depending on the type of permission the app requests, the system may grant the permission automatically, or the system may ask the user to grant the permission.

This class shows you how to declare and request permissions for your app.

hi ,
thanks, for your response and input .!
Yes ,interesting facts for me ..! ,it will "bug " me ( CSC issue ) till i
"understand " this fully .No wonder i was eventually so confused with my other devices ( CSC changes )
that afterwards , I had a real mismatch of CSC ,in the end ...!!
but bottom line is ,
that they are still all working 100 % ,no issues afterwards.!!
good luck

Post note.
The reason that i am so "interested/obsessed" with the relevant CSC ,
is that if you keep your local CSC .
It means that you will still get your local carriers correct OTA ( new /future OTA ) when pushed
out./or any new added local "functions/apps " etc .
Also device official ROM ,( firmware modem/radio ) would be the correct "optimised/local
" one for your device ...correct ?
Thus your reception / signal etc ,should be the best for local conditions ( supposed to anyway )

In short as long as it works I don't worry about ota or csc.

Had so many different CSC on my note 2 and 3, even had mixed ones at a point and still worked 100s. As far as I know tweaks are done in the build.prop file.

hi all ,
Marshmallow system bugs ?
Here is some" bugs " i have found/experience, so far on my device with Marshmallow.
1...
Airwakeup function , seems to have been "dropped " by Samsung ?
(Most likely reasons been, for Always on function S7 etc .)
This is the function where you wave your hand over the proximity sensor to wake device up.
I had this Airwakeup function enable and a shortcut to desktop .
( This was done on Lollipop version already )
I found when i tapped the shortcut (Marshmallow) i saw a notice stating app was not installed /
I checked Settings ,with Nova Activities function and with QuickShortcut Maker app .
Airwakeup function looks like its been left out .
However, since i activated this function on Lollipop
and did a dirty flash ,this function still works ,!
(Even with this system Airwakeup not installed ??)
If I wave my hand over device it wakes up .
My issue ?
How to stop or disable it ,as it is not installed on device...unless i factory reset device.
Already did full wipe did not help ',
but i am happy overall with this function .
etc..At night to check time ,messages etc its handy
.You don't have to keep pressing power button .
2..
If i switch bluetooth on ,my Alarm icon comes on,in Notification bar .( alarm is not set )
It disappears after a while .
3..
I do not see Smart Stay shortcut button in Notifications .?missing .?
OK ,
On positive side Battery consumption is similar for me as Lollipop .Very good .!
Ram seems to be a bit more in reserve ?
Slightly more "fluid " /smooth .
Info for anyone that's interested Re Marshmallow and to check for more bugs or any fixes .
good luck

Just for interest sake, i see the Vodacom Rom XFV is on Samsmobile . So for what's it's worth..?
if you take Vodacom OTA or flash same full Vodacom Rom. on Samsmobile.
Only difference is in size :
Rom.. 1.9 gig vs..?
Choice is yours,
Good luck

hi all,
Marshmallow bugs update... all fixed!
Just to share with others who might also experience bug issues after updating to Marshmallow.
In previous post i referred that i had following issues /bugs.
Auto rotate missing in shortcut notification bar.
If you switch Bluetooth on, Alarm clock icon appears in notification.
Also some of my desktop widgets would fail to load after a reboot.
Also my Airwakeup (Proximity sensor)
would work even though Samsung has removed it.?
Also a bit of a freeze here and there.
I was going to Factory reset device again but saw another "reset settings"
I decided to try this.
I might be wrong, but i have not see this alternative "reset settings" before ? Just above Factory reset. See screenshot attached.
I resetted the device. It did not touch /delete my apps, photos, nothing. Very quick reboot and all is well.
Well all my issues is fixed
For those members that might encounter issues with Marshmallow
Good luck

I have but I had to manually check for the update for it to come through. It might not be pushed to your device automatically, check manually for a software update and it might be there.

Got the Vodacom OTA yesterday morning, but also had to check manually.

Must say that battery life has not been great since.

Easy turn on @ Airwakeup.. Marshmallow v 6. 0.1
Just a update re Airwakeup (Samsung) called feature, in Lollipop version that dissappeared?
I factory resetted my device and manage to get all my settings "bugs" sorted out!
Actually first time, for me a factory reset worked (in past never did)
I found that the "Airwakeup" function is now called Easy turn on ?
Device /Settings /Accessibility /Dexterity and interaction /Easy screen turn on..... enable.
This is function where you wave hand over device, to wake. ( uses Proximity sensor)
Works really well for me.
I keep it permanently enabled with no noticeable battery drain.!
eg.
night time to see time, messages etc without pressing power button (saves)
other uses if your hands are oily or hand is wet
etc.
Info .. For members that find it a useful function...!
Good luck
