Samsung Galaxy S

u gotta love it when the STAFF know less than the CUSTOMER
Best we get used to it - it just seems everyone in SA has a job. Not a career which they are passionate about.
For eg: Vodacom just like the goverment until they got asses kicked and said they need to grow and fast - now look at them TV, Mini Sim etc watch them for the next few mths until they safe again then back to the goverment style where MTN and the others are right now.

Update on vodacom and the Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000 & GT-I9000/M8) , I Phoned a few vodashops , including vodacoms handset upgrades department as well as Vodashop inside vodaworld
As most of you know the new Vodacom Dealsheet was released yesterday. And the samsung Galaxy S in not yet available for new or upgrade cusomers.

They are also not able to give me an ETA , And Claim that the device is still in network Testing .

For the Samsung Galaxy S you looking at around R6394.10 +/- cash at the Samsung shop in Midrand vodaworld and should be here in the next 2 weeks or so.

How reliable is your source? Any news on contract availability yet?

Thats quite an accurate number to have a +/- next to it :p

Well That’s an estimation i firstly looked at the price of the HTC hd2, the Sony Ericsson Experia 10 and the Samsung wave, then I looked at the international prices then i added extra and a bit of tax well the amount added up to that, oh and i asked one of the Samsung rep and he said we looking at between R5500 and R7000.
As far as contract i really don’t know.

Direct import from overseas for the Galaxy S costs between R5000-5500. Some people have said MTN will be offering the phone on an 200 contract for R259 (24months)

Ok i just spoke to the Samsung rep and he said it should be R6500 and will be here around the end of the month or after. my estimations were not that far off after all.

Thanks for the info that suits me as my contract ends with cellc on the 7th of September hopefully I can grab it then.

Well i have my cash ready, that phone is awe sum the allshare just won me over, playing videos/movies via my xbox or pc from the phone's WiFi. outstanding

Yea I thought it might be a typo. Anyway I just confirmed the post by adding the CEO on Twitter (I hate twitter, so this was quite a big step for me) and it seems he said that the Samsung Galaxy S arrived on August 17th. Which is strange since we all thought it was being tested on Vodacoms networks all this time. Oh well, glad its finally here. My upgrade is due in less than a month!

Could have told them 5 weeks ago it when I got mine that it was working lol.

Its finally available in stores. Does anyone know what the price of it is?

I'll tell you this much - Vodacom in Century City have no clue about it.
No idea on deals or stock. Totally useless.
MTN don't have stock, but at least they've got their pricing on deals sorted.
Sorry didn't get a prepaid price from them, but on MTN100 for R259 and MTN200 for R319, no pay-in on both deals.
