Samsung Galaxy S10

Took the plunge and ordered from Telkom, offer is just so much better than VC and from June they effectively share a network.

Source for this? The only thing holding me back from Telkom is the reception issues.

As far as I am aware the S10+ is only being released on 08/03/2019.
On Takealot is shows "shipping from 08 March" on the pre-order option.
Let us know if you receive your S10+ early from Telkom.

I got my S10+ yesterday, I did a pre order on Monday. So far I am extremely happy with it. It is very responsive and fast!

Which network and was it an upgrade or new contract?

Just got approved for the S10+ with Telkom for R899pm. Will be porting my VC number over to the contract when they deliver the phone.

My planning as well, did they explain the process to you at all?

Online application.

Received a call about 30 minutes afterwards. Check your truecaller settings as it will block the number.
Credit vetting over the phone to about 30 minutes.
First debit should go off in the next few days followed by a call from the courier to arrange delivery when they have stock.

Yeah, got through that part as well, wondering about how to get the actual port done.

Sales guy made it sound as simple as waiting till the phone is delivered and then calling Telkom to request the port. It just doesn't sound right.

That's what they told me as well. First RICA the sim then call the call centre and request the port.

Thanks, guess its now just a case of waiting to test it then.

All in I'm happy, upgrading from a S6 seems like a decent enough jump :p

Overall I'm also coming out ahead, more minutes, more data and a new phone for less than what I'm currently paying VC.

So the design is pretty terrible in my opinion.
Got a few units here presented by Samsung, the screen is pretty nice and covers the entire front, but the only thing you can focus on is the stupid selfie cam on the top right.
It's this black circle smack on the display itself. Doesn't matter how nice the screen is, that is the only thing you will notice.
Dumb decision.

Phones with a bezel (Eg Galaxy S7 or iPhone 8) have a forehead and chin that contains the speakers and front cameras (Bigger than the camera hole on the S10). Several modern phones have a notch which is much bigger than the camera punch out seen on the S10.

I honestly don't think its a "Dumb" decision as you make it out to be. Samsung are utilizing the most screen estate so far with a front camera present.

How else would could they have designed it? Slider phones and phones with a camera that pop up have moving parts which can be defective over time or if they fall.

What is your idea of a design that has a front camera which would not be regarded as a dumb decision?

Remove the front camera.....
Solved

I’m saw it in shop and thought it was fine. It’s a hole for a camera or another icon on the notification bar. Same difference.
