Haha - that fact is more than just fun - I've placed my S8, S10 and S23 all next to one another, and tbh from my perspective, these older phones provided great value and still hold up in the real-world. Flashed with new ROMs and they also give you the latest software experiences from the newer models.

On a side note - anybody in here that has bought the phone on contract - but has been able to get the R10k cashback as opposed to the discount on the monthly contract fee? I'm with Telkom and the brochure says it's possible, but I'm not sure so just checking before I have to go in to store to confirm.
 
Tab arrived today :eek:

No sign of the voucher yet... there's a power bank with my name on it :cool:

I've been in contact with Regener8 Group, whom is responsible for the Samsung trade-in programme, and they confirmed you can get the R10k cash back discount by applying for such directly on the trade-in website.

You would need to answer a couple of questions regarding the device you trading in and then upload the purchase details of the S23.

They would then send an agent to collect the phone 2-3 days after your application, they will then assess the device and EFT the R10k cash back to your bank account.

According to Regener8, the qualifying device just needs to work without a charge therefore can have a faulty screen, as per my old S10, but would still qualify for the R10k cash back as long as it is not a Grade D rating

Also Not online trade-in the payment is delay huge, they even say upfront now min wait is 20 days. But most time its like a month.

Thanks for noting that.

But for me, as long as the payment is made I'm happy, since I'll load the R10k back into my contract as the contract reduction is R400 a month on a 24 month contract and R280 a month on a 36 month contract. Therefore R9600 total for 24 month and R10800 total for 36 months and would prefer to take the contract out on a 24 months.

Although only R400, every bit helps :ROFL:

Were you able to pre-order via Telkom? As following the website for pre-order, seems like it is a regular sale. Nothing different to saying it is pre-ordered so not 100% sure how to go by ordering with Telkom

Or do you receive anything special when pre-ordering or can one redeem the Galaxy tab with any S23 device bought before the 6 March based on the promotion date

How would I go about putting the latest Android OS on my S9? Does it really make a big difference?

I ordered via the Telkom website. I assume ordering the device before the official release date counts as a pre order. Got bumped up to 512Gb storage, claimed the Tab and got mailed the R2000 store voucher today as well.

I also pre ordered from Telkom recieved the phone and Tab but for some reason the Voucher hasnt come through.

When I call them they say they can see the request for redemption and that the voucher is delayed . That I must be patient. I made the claim on the 16th
 
First batch of payments from Regener8 are expected on the 23rd of March

I got the S23 from Telkom over the weekend. I didnt pre-order just walked in.

Luckily there was a samsung rep who indicated I still qualify for the Tab.

However when she checked for claim for the Tab, it did not appear. She then contacted someone from Samsung directly and they submitted my details for the Tab. I received a reference so all is good irrespective of me not pre-ordering.
