Samsung Galaxy S23

Ok I am now the proud owner of a S23 Ultra, after upgrading from the S21 Ultra. Definitely a better phone and I am happy with it. Still find it laughable that there is no charger with it. Really enjoying the S-Pen.

Received my S23 512GB from Snapcraze on Friday, coming from an S8 that I've been using since it's launch almost six years ago.

I must say I am surprised at the general everyday performance compared to the S8 which I used to think was still pretty good.

What cases are you guys using? I picked up the OEM Samsung Silicone case on Friday while I'm waiting for my Spigen Thin Fit to arrive.

Currently using the smart view wallet case. It's okay, but adds quite a bit to the size.

Galaxy S23 series selling way better than S22, S23 Ultra the runaway leader

Samsung expected the Galaxy S23 series to sell better than its predecessor and it's managed to achieve just that.

On the eve of the Galaxy S23 series' Japan premiere on April 20, the company confirmed the trio is surpassing the sales of its predecessors by 1.7 times in Latin America, 1.5 times in Europe and the Middle East, and 1.4 times in India.

The series surpassed the 1 million mark in South Korea in a similar timeframe to the Galaxy S22 series. Samsung will celebrate the 1 million sales mark in South Korea with bonuses for buyers - KRW 100,000 vouchers or damage compensation.

Samsung announced that the series' flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra accounts for 60% of total sales with the Galaxy S23 and S23+ each contributing 20%. It would have been great if Samsung gave the actual numbers.

Ulrea is just a bloody good phone.

Still only flagship from majoy brands that can run, teams share session, with youtube 4k windowed playing and play games for 30min with no throttle!

I can not believe how good the battery life is. I used to charge my S21 Ultra up to twice a day. The S23 Ultra is doing a full day with heavy usage and about 2 days with light usage.

The guys from isonxperiences.com running the promo are useless.

Did they close up shop? Because no one answers the phones are replies to emails :)

10/10 the true South African experience

Is anyone else with the S23+ finding the included cable to be erratic? Mine disconnects randomly or even constantly disconnects at times when plugging into the 30W ports we have on these multiplugs at work. When using a colleague's cable on these 30W ports it seems fine.

The below mentioned Reddit post speaks to Samsung cheaping out on the supplied cable.

  • A Reddit user has also found that the cable Samsung includes in the box is a 3A one that only supports 25W charging. They mention that you will need a different 5A cable and a compatible 45W charger to get the fastest charging speeds on the S23 Plus and Ultra. Check out our roundup of the best charging cables if you need to buy a new one. The official Samsung 45W charger also comes with the correct cable.

I don't have my own 45W charger at home as yet so can't test it out further until I get one.

Mine seems to be working fine, shows "super fast charging".

After looking into this more, it seems that if your phone supports super fast charging 2.0 then you need the 5A cable with a 45W charger.

But it seems that Samsung supplies the 3A cable (when purchasing the phone) and that is only 25W super fast charging 1.0 capable. IIRC the S23 base model can only charge at super fast charging 1.0 25W speeds. The S23+ and Ultra can do super fast charging 2.0 at 45W.

If you're charging at 45W your phone will actually briefly display 'Super fast charging 2.0' on the screen when the charging begins.

5A cable is double the price of the 3A one, so the high prices on these 45W chargers seems justified (Samsung 45W charger comes with a 1.8m cable). It's possible that the S23 Ultra owners received a 5A cable with their phones.

Yes, I think you're correct.
I have the trio charger and it shows "super fast" when using both the 25w and 65w ports.
Haven't paid it much attention but will have a closer look tonight.

Edit: R 399 is hefty for a cable.

Anyone had a warranty claim with the s6 lite tablets? Wondering how the process works, and who covers the warranty

I got the Samsung 45W charger and included cable on the weekend, the 5A cable is much thicker than the 3A cable that came with the S23+. [edit: 5A cable also the '5A' debossed into each connector end of the cable]

I'm doing my first charge with it now, it displayed 'Super fast charging 2.0' on the screen when the charging began.
Currently on 31% and 25 minutes to go to reach 85%.

I did check, the 65w and 25w ports charge at the same speed (less than the phone is capable of)
There's no "2.0" displayed either.
I suspect it's the cable as you've mentioned, will have to bite the bullet.

Thanks for this.

Base S23 has such a small "focal" point.

If I focus on a page from a book, the text in the corners is super blurry. Apparently, many S23 users are experiencing the same.

Did anyone take the new promo for the S23 at Incredible Connection?

From what I can see its:

Buy S23 @ R20999 which will allow you to:
  • Receive a R1000 voucher when you complete the purchase
  • Do trade-in of old device: Get R10k voucher
  • Purchase Galaxy watch 5 for R2000 -> Also get Galaxy Buds2 Pro (valued at R4000)
R11k in vouchers and a watch+buds2 pro to sell to for an all-in cost of ~R26000.

It is due to the high megapixel count of the camera. Nothing can be done about it.
It also frustrated me on my S22 Ultra. The new iPhones with the 48mp sensor also do this.
