Samsung Galaxy S23

Replaced my battery yesterday and did a factory reset.
Phone feels like new again, battery life back to normal and seems like it can last uptoo 48 hours again instead of uptoo 12h
I'm also considering replacing mine just not sure if it's worth it at this point as I might get the S26 Ultra next year. Where did you go do it and how much did it cost?
 
Can you please share which one you bought and how the battery is performing? Mine battery is swolling and need replacing

Factory reset the phone when after battery replacement, for best results.
Battery is doing well, so far so good.
 
Updated yesterday, I don't see much visual differences from UI 8.0, in fact I don't see any difference at all.

I haven't played much yet, but I did notice activating do not disturb now asks for how long. I'm sure I'll pick up more as the week progresses

Tiny glass-y effects here and there, some extra dialogue boxes for settings, an extra animation on app opening from the notification tray. Alright.

Unfortunately, my slight delay in the app manager is still here :( -- but everything else feels a tad more fluid and snappier.
 
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in February 2023 with Android 13-based One UI 5.1, and later in October, the brand introduced the Galaxy S23 FEwith the same OS. But that was the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered model, as the Exynos 2200-powered version ran Android 14-based One UI 6 out of the box. Regardless of which model you own, the Android 17-based One UI 9 will be the last major OS upgrade for the smartphone.
 

this was common knowledge - the 7 year update cycle for Samsung began with the S24 series - before that it was just a 4 year/4 major update cycle ..... i'm sure most Samsung users were aware of this - at the end of 4 update cycles most phones would be no longer capable of running the highest features that a phone can give you ie dated CPUs and GPUs will mean that most of those features will not work as well as users would like - though IMHO an S23Ultra performance wise is more-or-less around where an S24FE currently performs in most benchmarks but the S24FE also gets the 7 year updates which is a bit unfortunate for the S23Ultra Users which does have a few hardware features superior to the S24FE

i reckon it is because of the increase in reliance of AI features that Samsung has introduced - many of these will struggle with the older SOC models and most of the updates are additional AI features anyway but it us sad that the updates are reliant on features that most users would use maybe once or twice in the phones actual lifetime and then never again

having said that i noticed that many S22 users did not get OneUI 8.5 so im not sure if Samsung is treating the Android version as one complete cycle or the OneUI version as one complete cycle ...... it was supposed to use the Android version as one complete cycle hence for example the S24 models were supposed to get up to and including Android 21 ..... lets see how far it goes because if they use the OneUI versions as one cycle then S24 series users will only get up to Android 18 or possible the first iteration of OneUI based on Android 19

all of this plus Samsungs lack of adding some of the innovative features that rivals are adding into their top models (like silicon carbide batteries that can also charge a lot faster or even better cameras that blurring the lines between a phone being a "phone with a camera" versus something that is a "camera with incidental phone features" - many users are moving to rivals and Samsung will soon lose more following for being too conservative in their approach AND also for concentrating totally on AI features that most users do not want or do not even know how to use (sure the techie geeks will love those but the 60+ year old company CEO who buys the phone doesn't have the first clue what all that is about ..... i see many people like that as well as accountants and doctors and lawyers who really don't give a rat's behind about AI but who want the traditional phone features to become stronger and more innovative - and IMHO all those are going to move away from Samsung if they haven't already due to Samsungs short-sighted policies and technological philosophies)

Well the S23u does have more RAM, better cooling so longer sustained performance, bigger battery, faster charger, s pen, better camera, bigger higher res screen, faster storage, better speakers, ltpo panel, better body.
So yeah sure the S24fe is faster briefly for quick tasks and it gets updates for 3 more years, but overall the S23U is still a far better phone.
The S25Fe loses for pretty much the same reasons

not really because the S24FE have larger vapor chambers while the S23Ultra SOC has better efficiency hence less need for that larger vapor chamber and while the S24FE can get a bit hotter to the touch it doesn't throttle much anyway (one of the things that a really long test like Antutu proves) ...... plus the Exynos chipsets have 10 cores as well as a newer architecture so while all the other factors that you mention are all irrevocably true they do not do much to help the hardware perform the software improvements inherent in the newer updates to always perform those better or even to perform them at all (2 years later in CPU architecture is a significant gap) ..... but i take your point - the S23ultra was a flagship phone and should have had a longer usable lifespan till it became rendered useless compared to lower models because it isnt updated

and yes i personally do really think that the Ultra 100% should have had updates for longer BUT Samsung needs to create a reason for you to want a newer phone so they can sell one to you which makes all our opinions into moot points they they wont bother about and they will just do what they want to do and claim that their claimed obligations and promises were met

also as i mentioned above i am not sure if they are using Android versions as one cycle (they did with the older models like the S23ultra) and whether they have changed to OneUI updates as one cycle and if that is the case then they have actually shortened the total update cycle since you then need 8 cycles to match what those previous phones got in their 4 cycles with Android versions ...... different tech publications and websites say different things and Samsung changes their mind more often that the weather changes ie for example the S21FE was supposed to originally get OneUI 8.5 and it did not and the S22 series also did not get it while officially it was supposed to, so i really wont be surprised if the S24 upward models do not get 7 android updates but instead only get 7 OneUI updates

No really the Snap dragon runs cooler which allows it to run longer. Plus it marginally edges out the older gen 2 chip, but the Snap dragon beats it for efficiency and longevity of performance. Also cores don't count, the Gen 5 is still 8 cores and runs rings around the Exynos.
But yeah as I keep pointing out to the Apple guys, even an older flagship will run rings around newer mid range phones for awhile, due to them being flagship.

You are adding to the number of people who severely underestimate certain Exynos chips ..... not fighting but to put you into perspective - here is what Google says about the Antutu V10 scores on both the phones - V10 has been designed to test modern phones and it takes almost 20 minutes of intense continuous use of the CPU and GPU

According to GSMArena, the AnTuTu V9 benchmark score for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is 1,241,531, while the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE scores 1,218,977. Both devices perform very closely in this specific version of the test

to put even more perspective on the estimates - i actually downloaded and ran Antutu V10 on my S24FE - the phone had not been rebooted for more than 30 days and the phone was not optimised for the test - i deliberately left that as it was ie no rebooting first time i ran it this was the result (10th march 2026 according to the metadata) the phone was on One UI8.0 at that time if i remember correctly

then according to the second time i ran it (20th may 2026 as per the screenshot metadata) i did reboot the phone and closed all processes not required and ran the test after the reboot ...... it was the first thing done after the reboot and here is the result and this was two days after i updated to One UI 8.5 if my memory serves correctly - so ran the test to see if it worked better on the older firmware or if the newer firmware had improved it

please feel free to download Antutu V10 and run it on your S23 Ultra to prove me wrong - the S25FE doesn't match any of these figures because they made it thinner and also gave it a bigger battery and the only way they could have done any of that is to make the vapor chamber smaller (they would claim more efficient) BUT the S25FE doesn't match the S24 or the S24+ despite using the identical chip so IMHO its throttling quite a bit probably due to heat

so no your older flagship cannot run rings around the newer architecture of the slightly more modern midranger in performance even though it definitely has better build quality and better cameras and the S pen - and i will agree that those other factors affect the overall usability and utility from both models - yes the S23 ultra is a better all rounder but it does not perform anywhere close to what anyone can call better ......and its actually the opposite

one other thing - i noticed you said faster storage as well related to the S23 Ultra - that is only true for the 128GB model of the S24FE - the 256GB model has the same UFS 4.0 that the S23 ultra uses

A flagship phone can still run rings around a mid range phone for awhile. No mention of your precious S24FE and the S23U, which I did say the S24FE is marginally faster. Just not in sustained performance.

you need to rethink that - if i were to place a 10 core clock for core clock speed matched exynos against your precious gen 5 the difference will not be marked - as for marginally faster the Antutu V10 test adds some AI related testing and that is why things like the S23FE fall actually far behind not marginally including in sustained performance - and yet there you are comparing your gen 5 chip to those 2 and 3 year older phones like its a natural thing while the conversation started around whether the S23 ultra actually deserved more updates :rolleyes: not for anyone to flex their S26U - we all know that the S26U is the fastest phone around now because of its Gen 5 (for Samsung) overclocked chips
