Samsung Galaxy S3 unveiled

So many threads now ...

Not impressed with S3. One X is better. Xperia S is far nicer. iPhone 5 is going to eat this for breakfast. Note is still the Samsung to own.

"To charge the battery Samsung said it would offer a number of options, including a charging stand and a wireless charging kit. The manufacturer wasn’t clear about whether these would be included with the device or be sold separately."

They did say the wireless charging kit was optional. The charging stand will be as well.

Looks super. Love the user ID to unlock, and the eye recognition to stop locking or darkening

Is it just me or does it look very similar to the Galaxy Nexus?! The videos of it in action look really nice and super smooth and that's running TouchWiz, imagine ICS on there!!! Would be sooo nice...

Must say that TouchWiz looks quite interesting with all the new features, and scrolling toggle buttons - nice!

update: androindcentral has a short video comparison up between the GN and S3....not THAT similar...GN looks better though, soft buttons are better!!! :D

My upgrade cannot arrive quick enough.

That was a very quick write up, only 2 hours after the launch. Well Done.

OT: This phone seems pretty awesome but I don't like this "designed for humans" stuff. WTF? Who else is gonna use it?

Having had the opportunity to play with it, the phone definitely does a few things the way humans like to work. For example; ever had that annoying issue when you lie in bed, not quite upright but at an angle and your tablet or phone keeps on switching between landscape and portrait?

The S3 will track your eyes to see how you're positioned and then ensure it stays in the right screen format you chose.

Not just cool, but pretty useful.

I'm a bit disappointed by the form factor. S2 was probably the ideal size and the Note filled the gap nicely if you wanted something bigger. They should have kept the same screen size, while upping the rest of the specs.

S Voice

S Voice is really impressive
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Although your point is noted, some, like me, are wanting the slightly bigger screen, yet not quite so noteworthy as the Note :)

Suggest you first hold it in your hand before making a call. I found it made the S2 look (and feel) dated. As someone posted, closer to the Nexus.

Eye strain

I battle with eye strain, so for me bigger is better.
I have a Note (5.3") and am very happy.
The S2 (4.3") is probably the smallest I would go - I use one regularly.
My previous phone was an HTC Desire (3.7") the size is OK for a phone, but too small for extended use.
The iPhone 4S at 3.5" makes my eyes strain and is just too small.
I've noticed that most new high end phones have standardised on 4.3-4.8"
I suspect the next iPhone will follow the size trend.

I think the S2 makes the S3 looks dated, because the S2 has a much better display. :p
