A higher clocked dual core can out perform a quad core if the software is not optimized to use the later.

Remember though that Galaxy has a massive following especially since Samsung flooded the market with GalaxyS, GalaxyS2, GalaxyY, GalaxyW, GalaxyAce, Galaxy Nexus (semi-flood) etc...etc... So chances are all these people will carry on with the Galaxy brand.
No doubt HTC will sell phones but i don't see them reaching the same sales levels as Samsung and you just know that we're (and the world!) is going to be hit with the advertising train for the GS3. I don't get the same impression with HTC and their phones...
Mentioning cores is like mentioning tech specs. It doesn't matter.
Is there some app that the One X can run the One S can't? That would be a better differentiator to bring up. Some improvement to the lag in Android?
The One S has a better industrial design, and a better Android experience

Sigh - my search continues - S3 doesn't do it for me - ugly - confess bias, I think all the samsungs are ugly - HTC makes much prettier phones
iPhone 4S, Lumia 800 and HTC One S are the standout phones at the moment
And Galaxy Nexus!!

While the rest of this post makes sense the part in bold is quite typical coming from an Apple fanboy,there is no "lag in android" that this ifan speaks of
Oh and HTC's sense is the only "android lag" I've ever experience but yes it is still probably the prettiest UI out on any phone.All that eye candy comes at a price I guess.

There is most certainly a lag in Android (Much more so in versions prior to 4.0), which Google has acknowledged and they say it is caused by UI rendering "on the main thread with normal priority".
Hell, even the .Net port of Android has less lag in performance tests.
And what is with the ad hominem attack on me by calling me a "fanboy"? This was a civil discussion about the Galaxy S3 and I was comparing it with the HTC One X. I didn't mention Apple at all in that post

I agree with the comments above fromo System32 about the size of the phones. The iPhone is simply getting too small. Once you have played on an decent size Android, you appreciate the bigger screen. If the new iPhone does not have a bigger screen, I would seriously consider moving over to Android. That would be a sad day cause I love the iPhone and its iOS5. I am sure I am not the only one. All iPhone owners I know want a bigger screen. Come on Apple!
I'm most certainly not one of them.
But have you thought about the practicalities of having a bigger screen?
Having to keep IPS while image assets not being distorted or requiring developers to create new assets?
It's a massive headache. There has been one suggestion that is fairly elegant, which would result in the same width, but greater height screen

I went for the Sony Xperia S, IMO better than those phones, camera by far the best (12Mp & good lens, high quality images).
Also very smooth operation.
