Samsung Galaxy S5 announced, SA launch window

It's a massive upgrade from the S3... but the S4? Not so much.

Yep, but that seems to be the norm now and we say it at every launch of every new phone from Samsung and Apple. Small jump from one iteration but big jump from two.

What is the sweet spot for screen size for a phone? I'd say somewhere between 4,3" and 4,7". The original Galaxy Note phablet was 5,3", so the S5, at 5,1", is getting very close to phablet size. Did people really want a bigger screen?

It is, but only if you have a 4K TV. You can't see the quality on the 1080p screen nor most TVs out there.

Seems as if Samsung is not really chasing specs here. Only 2GB of RAM? +1 for Sony!

Aaah! You can record UHD but only watch the recorded video in 1080 resolution.

/facepalm

What did people expect to see?

I think smartphones have reached a plateau

Yeah, that plateau was reached 2 years ago really. Now it's just bolted on gimmicks (finger print readers... heart rates...)

They should have called this thing Samsung Galaxy S4.1

IF you consider the big difference in features between the S2 and S3 and then the S3 and S4, this is a huge failure.

But that's just my opinion.

Hello there Sony...

:erm:

If the S5 is a huge failure then you'll be sorely disappointed by the Sony Xperia Z2 as well, as it's almost identical besides 1GB more RAM, a slower processor and a better camera.

Thing is I'm not really looking to upgrade, I just expected more from the S5 :)

Waisted 1 hour watching the boring launch. Was expecting a bit more. They were punting the Gear more than the S5.
My S3 is still excellent. Maybe I will keep it another year.

Or.... Get the LG or Sony or even the Note 3 seems like a very good choice. And before you go off about the huge Note 3, I have big hands, I have handled the note a few weeks ago and it's perfect for one hand operation.

I think it looks an improvement on the S4 on that side at least.

Rly?
