Samsung Galaxy S5 announced, SA launch window

Reports of the fingerprint sensor aren't looking great either. The heartrate monitor seems to work pretty well, and the camera speed is a nice improvement. Otherwise it's hard to find a good reason to choose the S5 over a Nexus5 or Z2.

Also I wonder why they didn't use a refined Exynos processor? It doesn't look good that they're going with Qualcomm over their own architecture. Was the Exynos octacore such a blind alley?

Also.. I find it amusing that they're touting the removal of S4's gimmicky bloatware as a feature.

Specs are beginning to matter less; it's largely about design at this point, and on that front the S5 is a bit of a turd it must be said. The designers have zero taste. The Sony is far superior.

The S5's processor is still an unknown quantity. It's a 2.5ghz quad core snapdragon but there's no confirmation on which model. Oh and now it seems that there will be an Exynos 8-core model released alongside, so that's another Kinder Surprise moment for the lucky buyer and the unfortunate developer.
 
Huge disappointment. After all the rumors, I expected a lot more. Would much rather go for the Note 3 at this stage.

They have never really been about looks over at samsung they are all about specmanship

Always seem to be 2 versions of the S range... but as normal, sheeple will buy it in their millions... Personally, I think Samsung plastic has got to the point of being horrible and weak. LG / Nexus making better quality these days. I bet the Sony also is rock solid.

The smartphone is hitting a level of maturity. What else can they add? the iphone 5s in effect only received a new flash and fingerprint detection. Samsung added fingerprint scanner, heartrate monitor and weathersealing. Ladies and gents. Smartphones are becoming feature phones. All they do is add more features to entice new customers. But, most of us are still using 2-3 year old smartphones and they function adequately. My gut feel tells me that there is a bit of radical innovation needed.

If the S5 is a huge failure then you'll be sorely disappointed by the Sony Xperia Z2 as well, as it's almost identical besides 1GB more RAM, a slower processor and a better camera.

The Z2 can record video at 120fps so you can do slow motion stuff.

I think that alone is awesome.
 
Xperia Z2 seems to be the better phone, better specs in most areas plus that awesome build quality.
 
wait for s6 or another brand to make some thing better s4 is fine with my 7200mAh battery
