Honestly, I don't see the use. This screen is awesome pretty. 2k would have been a waste I think, and be tougher on battery life.

Are you talking about the watchOn on the Gear 2, or the Smart Remote on the GS5?

Both.

Main use I would have for the remote (besides turning the tv on) is tv settings.

Im playing devils advocate here, not trolling.

I put it to you (;)), that most features on phones these days are WAAAAY over the top, to a point where they are not really practical, but it comes down to bragging rights? E-peen contest?

In other words, people buy phones for spec.

Quick browse through the play store shows me many many options so sure I will find something to do the job perfectly :)


The lack of gear apps is a bit boring, wonder if they actually made that 100 apps at launch deadline, sure does not look like it :/

True, my lady (;)). But you know, the phone manufacturers are like the drug dealers and we are the addicted. There was no real need for an S5 at this stage, really. But they know, we won't be able to resist temptation to go and get one, even if we already have an S4 or a Note 3. Because why? Because we are tech addicted.

Also, why will any manufacturer make a flagship which is not over the top, even though they know we don't need it? Because they know if they don't, we'll buy something else.
 
Gaaah, just got told by work bureaucracy that I have to wait until next billing period until they submit my new contract.
I'll only get it on 1 May, most likely.

no they didn't. also, they only released the sdk for the gear 2 and fit end of march. So we'll have to wait a bit longer for more apps I guess.

At this stage, I just want moar watch faces!!! MOAR MOAR MOAR!!!

Yea, the only face I like is one I downloaded (black diamond one).

Seems to fit the watch better than any of the pre installed ones (that and my custom, watch gear wallpaper).

I'm using the gear watch with weather, with one of the standard wallpapers (black with coloured tiles falling from the top)

Has anyone worked out how to use the "shot and more" mode in the camera app? Whenever I take a series of photos with that option (a number of them involving a running subject that I panned with - although in saying that, this might be my error, need to try letting the subject run across the shot) the only choice I get when processed is "best photo".

EDIT: Oops, that was precisely my problem... don't pan and the other options are offered. Works brilliantly too!

I'll see if I can get my daughter to play along, the dogs and cat were not willing to :)
 
Have to say, happy with the battery today. I know batteries take a while to "settle in" but got the phone on Friday and on Sat and Sun I was satisfied with the battery but not impressed. Today it has given me 14h42m, with 4h30m screen time, and is still sitting at 33%! Nice.
