i'm not sure factory reset clears dalvik.

dalvik can be cleared starting the phone with the whole "home button, power and volume up" move

Apparently that's not the same cache clearing as the dalvik cache.

After googling it seems they're the same thing.

Ccleaner just wipes the app cache not the system cache.

My stock Vodacom S6 is still running 5.0.2, with no updates available OTA.

Based on your guys' issues above with 5.1, maybe Vodacom is wise in dragging their feet on their official release.

Have any of the other providers in South Africa authorised the OTA update for the S6?

You can't downgrade from 5.1.1 to 5.0.2. The bootloader in 5.1.1 is locked and prevents you from downgrading. You'll softbrick your device.

Just a follow-up on this matter. Awesome service from Samsung ADH. They came as promised on Monday. They gave me a new Samsung S6 phone for a loan and they kept me updated about the repairs to my phone and yesterday they called (in my language) to say they will deliver on Monday because my phone has been repaired - even though they had told me to back up my phone data, they did not wipe it clean as there was no need since they were just fixing the screen and they also checked it for other possible defects resulting from the blunt force trauma to the screen and they found none. And I will pay R0 for all this as long as I return their phone in good condition. Soon I will have my Samsung S6 Edge back! Looking like new.

Now this is what I call great service. A lot of companies can learn from this - life is hard enough without having to deal with bad service and companies ripping you off!

The phone is back... Looking like new. I couldn't be happier. But my one free repair is now gone.
