Samsung Galaxy S6

Don't you have an iPhone 6 as well? How does it compare in your experience?

I have a 5s. The S6 is much better from a hardware standpoint, there is no contest. The one thing that really irritates me is that I am used to using the 5s as an audio player to a significant degree - probably I listen to 4 hours a day of audio in various formats. I can't find an app that can give me the same kind of experience as the iTunes Music app. Otherwise I cannot complain, I'm quite impressed with the phone.

Try out PlayerPro

Have you tried PowerAmp? Only app I found worth paying for on droid, it's not perfect but it is one of the better ones. I like how it is able to find nearly any album art. There's another I tried don't remember what it's called before settling on this.

Thanks for the suggestions I'll try them out. I really want to be able to do an iTunes sync so I can manage the file types on my desktop as it's a bit complex. I tried with Doubletwist but it ballsed it right up. I'm thinking of sticking with the ipod nano for audio actually.

I got my S6 Edge 4 days ago. I am loving it. Only thing is the battery life during stand by mode. I loose about 5% per hour with power saving mode on. Did anybody have se same issues and how can I fix this?

something definitely wrong there. Have you checked to see what process is draining battery?

Android OS and Android system kept the device awake for 5 of the 6 hrs last night it was in standby mode.

I know this sounds obvious, but have you tried rebooting the device? Sometime a reboot is all that's required.

Ok let's give a try again and see how it goes today
I read on a few forums that doing a factory reset after an OTA update fixes battery drain issues.

I know it's a schlep to have to reload all your apps but if you tried everything else it might be worth a shot.

Personally I just use an init.d script to kill the Google services I know cause the battery drain ;)

Gboss, you've rooted your phone right?

Want to do the same. Done it with every device I've had immediately after getting it. This is the first phone I haven't.

Interested in the XtreStoLite ROM. Just worried about losing Samsung Pay... if it ever reaches SA.

Yep I rooted my phone. I've always done it to all my phones too. I'm pretty sure that the devs will have a fix for Samsung pay and get it to work on rooted phones. Private mode never used to work if you rooted your S6, now it works perfect.

I like xtrestolite but it's Base is a bit dated now. I'm using xtralite FOM v1.8.1 - it's a nice debloated ROM and it has uni kernel v9 baked in. Also this ROM has a Google services init.d script to tame the battery drain. I have another extended script that I use. Idle drain is about 1% every 2-3 hours. I lose maybe 3% overnight sleeping.

Thanks :)

That's great battery drain specs! Does the fingerprint scanner works on xtralite? Think I'm gonna take the plunge and just do it.

Take the plunge, you will very happy trust me. If you want I'll post the extended init.d script here for you.
The finger print scanner works better than before IMO. It's faster and I have less misses. You just need to be on the latest bootloader if you want your finger print reader to work.
If your on the latest vodacom firmware then no need to worry about the bootloader or modem.

This would be with what I'd call low usage:uploadfromtaptalk1444556373674.jpguploadfromtaptalk1444556386618.jpgThis is a high usage day:uploadfromtaptalk1444556432342.jpguploadfromtaptalk1444556442999.jpgA small OC and Antutu scores picked up welluploadfromtaptalk1444556549904.jpg

It seems my next option is to do a reset. Battery lost 24% in 6hrs last night.
