I got the same deal for the G6 (for R50 less)

so now we know the price difference on the G6 and the S8 is R50 (we had been speculating on that before)

Yup, that was an awesome phone, my rich uncle had one lol.

My first 'real' phone I treated myself to in my first job was this, the Nokia N96:

Back in 2008 that was a pretty special piece of kit. It even had something that modern phones don't have: a built-in digital television tuner (I could watch DSTV's early trials at digital streaming TV for free). And two-way sliding action, unheard of!

Am I really the only person wondering why the Exynos model is limited to 2160P 30FPS like the Snapdragon even when the chip is advertised to be capable of 120FPS?

I also have the S6 and I think both of us decided to keep the S6 and just buy a battery case.

I just spoke to Vodacom a couple of minutes ago to confirm my S8, the S6 is still fast but I can't anymore with the battery life and I don't want a extremely slow charging battery pack strapped to my phone.

The battery pack we discussed charges the S6 in less than an hour :)

I think I'm going to be very happy with the S8, if you check XDA the screenshots people are posting the battery life looks great and if Samsung are to be believed they say after two years the battery will still hold 95% of its capacity.

Going from the S6 to the S8 is a much easier decision than going from the S7 to S8. I had the S4 and S6 both of which had sub-par battery life, I'm ready to have decent battery life finally after four years.

Agree. I upgraded from a S6 edge to S8. Battery life is no longer an issue. The only thing that I miss is the IR blaster. I dont know what Samsung (or is it Gorilla) did to the screen, but is does not show nearly as many fingerprints as the S6 edge used to.
 
I also have an S6 and placed a pre order for a S8+.

The issue with the battery drain on the S6 seems to be Android OS taking a big chunk. Any way around this? Would really like to resolve this issue before handing the phone down or selling it.

No, the S6 battery was just shyte. From the 7 Samsung has done a lot of power optimisation
