Samsung Galaxy Tab now available through MTN

iPad is still the winner because of the app store.
I don't think you will find a better app range than on Itunes.

Some might prefer the wider range, I prefer the crowd that develops for Android. Much more my scene.

What might be an important factor is the fact that we don't have access to the paid market in South Africa (yet?).

you don't need access...just install offline :) and it's free lol

Eish the pricing, still too much

They actually aren't terrible.

If you take out the cost of the data bundle, then for the 75 and 300 MB deals you're paying R220 per month for the Tab, which calculates to R5280.

Interestingly enough, if you exclude the cost of the bigger data bundles, you end up paying R250 per month for the Tab (Yep, you want more data, you pay more for the hardware. Talk about getting shafted.), which calculates to R6000.

Not bad, considering that the RRP is something like R7999. It doesn't mean I'm going to buy it though....

Kudos to MTN! At last MTN has come to the party! For a long time they have been a low key player. Nowadays, they offer better iPhone packages than Vodacom. Moreover, they actually HAVE stock of iPhones 4 unlike Vodacom who still have waiting lists, 7 months after the iPhone 4 release. (Hence, I ditched Vodacom for MTN). Now they lead the way with the Galaxy as well. Please get us the iPad now!

You actually pay R7200...it's like an interest free loan....70 megs is nothing....you can throw the sim away....
thinking about getting this to use on my 2GB cellc pack....

The pricing does not seem way out there (data bundles portion sucks though). However, I am tempted....quite tempted...but a wait for the honeycomb tab might be worth it (the mototab that is)

Better pricing than Vodacom at least..
Trying to get one from the States, but will pick up one of these from MTN if I don't come right.

Good idea provided that someone brings it in for you. The ridiculous custom rates make any such import unprofitable. I once made the mistake with a Garmin GPS which I imported. Henceforth, my brother brings all my gadgets into the country.

Yep. Just got an sms from my bro who's on that side. He's just boarded the plane with my Galaxy Tab! (and an iPad for himself!)

Nice one!! Samsung is a great brand, however I would have gone with the iPad. (But then again, I am an Apple fanboy). Enjoy your new toy mate. I am getting my new Macbook Air on Sunday all the way from the States. (Bro is bringing it in!)

No thanks. You're locked into Apple's NAZI way of doing things. I would not touch that with a barge pole.

I saw an ad for the new Blackerry pad this morning on the way to work. A few guys here waiting for that.
Still Im not big BB fan... but the 10" version of this Galaxy should be nice.
me looking the 'normal' Android pad, like this one

doesnt have built in modem, but only R2500... i dont need built in modem, will just be a waste of cost... coz will use wifi internet on ADSL only in any case.
I played a bit with the 7" the other day, but I would much rather have 10"

I am so tired of the way that MTN phrases their deals. In that table it shows "No Pay in"...DUDE, you are paying R400 and something for 500Meg....TRUST ME YOU ARE PAYING FOR IT! At least Vodacom when we do monthly payment deals we tell you this is what you pay EXTRA per month for the laptop or whatever you taking, and THIS is what you pay for your MyMeg or MyGig package.

TSK!

*rant over...goes for a smoke*

:-)
