There is a massive demand for the new 2017 Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 but Samsung South Africa don't have a clue. Every Samsung shop is out of stock of the old Tab S2 and have to turn away ready to buy customers every day.
Bad planning and I am sure Samsung South Africa management will try to rip us all off with lies and extortionate prices like they are trying to do with the S8 & S8+.

If Samsung continues to be tight with their ROM size, I won't be getting this.

I bought the Samsung TAB S 10.5 and also the TAB S 8.4 about a month apart - maximum size available was 16 GB !!!!!! I still have those tablets.....and then to make matters worse, Samsung crippled it in Marshmallow, so you don't have the option to move apps to SD card (except for a few that app developers allowed)...and Samsung have also not allowed you to format the SD card as the internal memory.

Last year I bought the Samsung TAB S 2 8.0 while in Dubai - it is not available here in SA. It came with 32 GB memory (much better, but not sufficient for their flagship tablet). IMHO This TAB S2 8.0, is the best tablet out there, including iPads. I just wish they would put decent memory in there. It is 2017, I want 128 GB of memory or 256 GB

If the Tab S3 has less than 128 GB ROM, I won't be getting it.

Any news on the release yet?

I have been asking every week.
Vodacom and Cellucity keep referring to their Samsung rep, who doesn't know.

The Samsung live chat and email avenues of communication aren't helpful either. They don't know when it will be available. The one email told me that I can buy an S2 from a Samsung Brand Store and gave me the price and contact details. REALLY?

I find that very hard to understand that Samsung not know when its own products will be available? Is there no planning?
Do unmarked boxes just arrive at their doorstep, and then they shuffle around and stare at each other awkwardly for a while?
Surely, there must be a demand for these tablets.

It seems that the launch of the S8 is swallowing all their resources, and their world stops for a while.
(I have to wait until July to get mine)

Samsung SA really don't do the brand any favors.

I agree
Its a MASSIVE global brand, but really let down by the local distributors

Ok, so the tab S3 is available in the brand stores, but I need it on a contract.
Samsung can't give the date if its launch or release, so Vodacom/Cellucity have no idea when they will have it.
Ridiculous!

Out of interest, how much does it retail at?

Goeie bliksem. But this is the first Samsung tablet that really feels premium. I want it! Hope FNB gets it soon *eg*

I bought the Samsung TAB S2 8.0 - that, to me, was the first real premium tablet by Samsung. You can't buy it in South Africa - I bought it in Dubai last year. It is a massive leap forward in premium look and feel compared to my previous generation Samsung TAB S 8.4 and 10.5. I think my TAB S2 8.0 is every bit as premium....probably better, than the latest iPad mini.

I look forward to seeing what versions of the Tab S3 they will be bringing into S.A

These high end Samsung tablets are really nice, they normally have the OLED screens, best android tablet on the market and pretty close to the iPad in build.

Got a few of these for work from Rectron at R9139 excl VAT. An absolutely beautiful tablet. It's just a pity that there is no slot for the S-pen, but I guess that's why it is not called a Note. The screen is amazing. I considered getting one for my own home use, but these days I only use my Note 10.1 2014 to read magazines and can't justify paying this amount while it is still working fine. But I am tempted, so watch this space.

I wish I had known about that - I bit the bullet and bought one at the Samsung store.
My Note 10.1 is tired and starting to act up and I need it be 100% at work.

It's a very nice piece of equipment and I look forward to getting better acquainted.

Oh, and I am getting an S8 on Saturday, so lots of new kit to play with.

Still not sure why you don't see these through cellular providers, the only tablets you can get are Ipads or horrid Android tablets

I ordered one of these from Amazon last night.

Besides the plug, will there be any problems should I get it from the States?

That and if it's the cellular/LTE version hopefully it's compatible with the bands we use in Sa.

Do not think so, i picked up an amazon refurb in December when i was there. Mine isn't a 3g version tho.
Processor is a big upgrade over my Tab S that I had.
