I am a new MTN client. No port.
I ordered my phone from iTalk before lunch yesterday and they told me it would take 3 to 4 days to deliver.
Courrier just delivered it to my office now though :D

I am still waiting for MTN Shop in Rosebank to call me after I told them I had been waiting for 2 weeks after I send them my application for the Anytime 200 Omnia contract. They don't give me my phone today (which I doubt they will), I will just cancel the application with them and do it italk way. No Fuxxking way it shall take 2 weeks. Must I get a written confirmation from them tomorrow about the cancellation to protect myself?

ok, so one other difference with the iTalk vs MTN offer is 1 year warranty vs 2 years (MTN). I think i am gonna stick with MTN SP as i dont really wanna change to iTalk. If i had more time to spare, i would probably go iTalk, but right now it really sucks not having a decent phone.

Has anyone experienced problems to pair the Omnia with bluetooth devices? Or am I in the wrong forum to ask such technical questions.

I see that most of the discussions are about decisions whether to buy a Omnia or something else or to decide which service provider offers the best deal.

Please advice me to which forum I should direct my question.

I'm trying to pair it with Supertooth light (car handsfree) It's picking up the device and then paired with it but no sound or interaction. If I press on the BT device's green button to receive a call (when a call comes in) there is no sound, nothing. Or if I want to make a voice dial call from the BT their is no response.
 
After you paired your BT device with your phone, does it auto detect what device it is and what BT services are enabled?

It just auto detects what device it is and when I seleck the device and click next it does displays "handsfree" with a correction mark in a small block in front of it. But as I said no interaction. I understood from other boards it's mainly becausse Samsung uses the MS BT stacks and not some other "name" BT stacks
 
Just went to 'MTN' shop in Rosebank this morning, apparantely they are 'mobile solutions' instead of MTN shop but being taken over by MTN, due to the take over they have some problems with stock, expecting something towards end of the month. Told the boss and the lady to make sure my application will not be submitted as they assured me they don't submit application/porting before they get the phone, and they will not submit mine.

Just got off the phone with Calvin from iTalk, signed my paper work and faxed through ID, proof of address. Will call me back on Monday after their credit department finished the credit vetting on me.

I should get my phone on Tuesday/Wednesday.
 
I got signed up in 10 minutes with Credit Card over the phone. Got new cell number straight away and everything one time. What a pleasure.
 
I was reading the GSM Arena review of the Omnia and read something very interesting...
"Samsung provide the audio chips for Apple's latest gadget"
so the sound quality must be excellent

My fingers are crossed that the phone gets delivered tomorrow.

To the guys that have theirs, what's the text input like? I'm coming from a SE P990i whose keyboard is a pleasure for me, but I've never used a full touch screen keyboard and wondering how it's going to fare.
 
Hi SPiV, I'm coming from a Nokia N70 numeric keypad, and so far, the Omnia text input can be a pain, with or without the stylus. If u r a heavy texter, I would not recommend it. The phone is really cool in certain areas, but I am beginning to realise why people complain about Windows Mobile. I've only had the phone for 24 hrs, so hopefully as I learn more tips and tricks the phone will become easier to use for media consumption.

[edit] There are times when u really need the stylus for text input and navigation, but this depends on the application or web page one might be on.

Update:HAving used the Omnia now for 6 days, I'm much happier with it than i was 4 days ago. Am now surviving happily without the stylus. Am learning my way round WinMo, and not too many regrets about getting the Omnia. Camera sucks IMO, which is a pity.

And what's worse is the fact that the touchsreen is simply too unresponsive, I've read about other users complaining about this, but never dreamed it would be this bad. Now and then I kept pressing items on the menu with no response, not knowing whether windows was lagging or whether there were too many tasks running, several times it turned out that the screen simply wasn't picking up my thumb presses and pushing any harder felt incredibly akward.

OK, i know this is an oldish post by u, but i just had to comment on it now that I have had the Omnia for 6 days. In the beginning I struggled and hence some disappointment set in, but now, i am doing well without the stylus and even within vanilla WinMo. I find the touch screen very responsive. I dont think this is a phone that one can judge within a few minutes. (And I haven't read the manual yet, am just playing around discovering new things, and getting tips from the other Omnia owners on MyBB. Really should read the manual tho :p )

That said, in comparison the iPhone was very easy to use, immediately. Can't beat capacitive screens I guess. And the user friendliness of Apple devices :)
 
Had mine for a day and preffered my HP iPAQ 6915 so went back to the old trusty HP. Not a bad phone though just it doesn't suffice my needs.
Now I need to sell it after using it for a day.

Like the i900 Omnia, eh? We sure did. Well here's its prettier, smarter cousin tagged the T*Omnia. For the most part, it's the same quad-band, WinMo 6.1 candybar with 7.2Mbps HSDPA data, WiFi, GPS, 5 megapixel cam, and nifty TouchWiz UI we've seen for months. But this hometown Korean version bumps the display to a WVGA, 800 x 480 pixels (up from 400 x 240) while slapping in a DMB digital television tuner to ensure its non-Stateside status for eternity... at least with this specific configuration. Perhaps Verizon would be so kind as to make use of that display?
 
I want one of these phones ... my mtn contract is up for renewal in a few days .... any suggestions on any good deals this month??

Well you're only going to get it if you go to Korea as it will be sold there exclusively ;)

Unfortunately, the Korean version of the Samsung Omnia won't be available to other countries and will be sold exclusively by SK Telecom starting from mid-November. So if you are not heading to Korea any time soon, we guess those photos are the closest you'll get to seeing it.

Terrestial TV on the go - now that's some ****!!!!!!

The Samsung T*OMNIA comes with a larger 3.3-inch screen and four times the pixels. There's also a DMB TV tuner on board for watching terrestrial digital TV on the go. Of course the new T*OMNIA is larger than the original standing at 115.2 x 58.1 x 13.65 mm but only marginally.
