Samsung Omnia HD - i8910

Use Hotspot Shield. Just install it and return to the site and it will allow you on the forum. I also had that problem until someone here told me about Hotspot Shield.
 
The firmware update is available but only at the repair centers and the network providers. Samsung said it won’t be available through “Samsung Pc Studio 7”. You can contact the Customer Care Line on 0860726786 for further enquiries.
 
Has anyone here flashed their phone and uploaded one of the hacked firmwares?

I would like to flash mine, but are a little scared. :)
There are so many options and you need A before B works, etc. A bit daunting.

Advice would be appreciated.
 
I think if you have the phone flashed you lose the warranty, so I wouldn't do it... rather be safe than sorry.
If anyone has had the firmware update done please let us know if it's worth the while; I'm considering doing it but want to know if it's worth the hassle?
 
I am already sorry I bought the phone. :) Rather get the bonuses from the hacks than sit with a phone with unused potential.

hey ajcock, within 1 month i hacked my phone and 2 weeks later i flashed to custom firmware and all i can tell u is that it's great! My phone runs much better and smoother than ever before. You'll never get the full potential from yr phone unless you flash to one of these firmwares. I highly doubt that you will get a firmware update for this phone from samsung coz they are ####ed up! and ditched this phone. I was also scared but i did it, my phone is about 4 months old now and have had custom firmware for 2 months so far, it's highly stable and enjoyable. Join the i8910 blog in gsmarena, you'll learn everything about this phone, custom firmwares, how 2 flash, where 2 get apps etc. If you interested in flashing your phone let me know.
 
I finally did the flash. It took me 13 minutes. 10 minutes to figure out which button the LOCK button was because the manual called it the HOLD button, and 3 minutes to do the flash. (Makes you wonder what the stores do with the other 2 days, 23 hours and 47 minutes with your phone.) I flashed it with HX-V5 and I like it.

Visible improvements are the speed (page switching quicker, loading images in Gallery quicker), Threaded SMS, a "video wall" which is more a program wall. Would have been nice if this was a gallery wall. See no point in this feature. Haven't tested the HD recording yet, but it supposedly gives you real HD recording with video and audio. The orignal firmware had frame loss and audio sync issues.

I also loaded the SPB mobile shell (SPB Mobile Shell) which is awesome! Makes me happy to be a i8910HD owner again.

The only thing I don't like about the firmware update was the removal of the contact gallery. If only your normal gallery was like this. I prefer to roll through the photos instead of the current gallery. It is nice if you want to show to friends your photos.

Have n203 right now, people say this firmware is more stable and smoother. But look out for hyperx v6. It has some good features, allows you to turn on/off turbo mode, pre-autofocus, and allows you to change the speed of yr kastor effects.
 
Also got SPB a while ago, the link u provided only offers the trial for free or u have to buy it. If anyone wants a free full version of SPB let me know.

It's worthwhile, trust me, also also comes fully hacked 2 download most n97 apps and games.
 
I was going to post this post on the SamsungblogSA but after I got to upload the 8th image, which was such a tedious process and it gave me a 502 error, I just gave up. So here is my edited article, which tells you what works on the i8910HD and how to get the best our of it.

Note: HX-V7 is out. Yes my writeup started a month or so ago and the guy has already moved on to V7, which comes with support for Symbian3 found on the Nokia N8

There are a few modified firmware options available like the HypeX HX-V5 (V7 is now out) and HelloOX. I decided to install the HyperX HX-V5 firmware. The upgrade took me 13 minutes to do, only because it took me 10 minutes to figure out which button was the lock button, so that I could get to the boot-up screen. The i8910HD documentation called the button I was looking for, the "hold" button. So what do you get when you install the HyperX HX-V5 firmware (a modification of the last & final firmware update Samsung did)?

Pros:
* Faster phone - moving between screens are a lot snappier and loading of your gallery is also improved.
* Threaded SMS-Lite - You can now read your sms in threads, which makes a lot more sense that having a seperate received & sent folder for me.
* All menus have landscape mode
* Kastor Effects - additional to original K-Effects
* Turbo Mode - Optional, using full 600Mhz processor
* 3D icons - added to collection
* Ringtones - New
* Widgets - CirskeloFlipClock Widget added
* Filebrowser - updated
* Homescreen Nav-Bar - Transparent
* Quick-Office - Updates working
* 720p Recording - Pause your recording & continue and your recording sound will be synced.
* Photos - improved jpeg codec
* My Media App - Like a video wall for media apps. See now point in this. Would have been great for your galleries.
* Home Screen Themes - Full page & Navigation bar added

Cons:
* Removed the between screens finger swipe navigation (working now, might have been a bug)
* Removed the Photo contacts (see below how to reinstall)
* Removed 3D Navigation (see below how to reinstall)
* Games removed

Man this guy is a machine. I just installed V7 tonight, and a new version 7 is out with QT libraries part of the package and the ability to install Wikitude and a Gameboy emulator.
 
Don't install the latest version. There are a few bugs and it is a bit slower than the previous version I had. I love the new OraTsu (Orange Tsunami) interface which got added. I finally got Wikitude to work. Whohoo! Some things can be improved, but I am happy that the program is actually working. What is really great about the new firmware, is the fact that you can manually set a lot of things (change program or screens to run on left and right swipe) and you no longer needs to sign programs. They are all automatically signed with the HX patcher. Looking forward to the new release.
